○ 「make A of B」には、次の３つの意味があります。 （１） 「BからAをつくる」 ※ 受動態で用いることが多い。 ※ This desk is made of wood. （２） 「BをAにする」 ※ 「make+A+B」と同じ意味。 ※ We want to make a doctor of our son. = We want to make our son a doctor. （３） 「BをAだと思う/理解する」 ※ 疑問文で「what」節とともに用いる。 ※ What should we make of this phenomenon? 「この現象をどう考えるべきでしょうか。」 ○ お尋ねの英文は、（３）の意味だと考えられます。訳は次の通りです。 「それをどのように理解することができるのか確かめてみなさい。」

ある大学入試対策用の文法・語法問題集に次の問題があります。 次の日本文の意味になるように（ ）内の語を並べかえて英文を完成させなさい。 その国で見られるものすべてをぜひ見たいと思っています。 I am ( be / is / anxious / see / seen / there / to / to / what ) of the country. 期待される答えとしては I am ( anxious to see what there is to be seen )of the country. しかないと思います。英和活用大辞典（研究社）のseeの項目にIt is quiet little town and you can see what there is to be seen of it in a couple of hours.（ここは静かな町で、２時間もあれば見るべきものをみんな見ることができる。）がありました。ここで質問ですが、 このwhat there is to be seen of...の部分はどういう結びつきになっているのでしょうか？特に、whatとof...は意味的に直接結びついているのでしょうか？googleでhear what there is to be heard ofやfind what there is to be found ofで検索してみましたがヒットしませんでした。ということは (be) seen of ...という結びつきが強いということでしょうか？

英文解釈の参考書に It is not a question of what you can do but of when you can do it. (君に何ができるかではなく、それができる時期が問題だ。) とありました。 私は、 It is a question of what you can do but of when you can do it. という英文を作ると、上述の和訳の意味になるような気がしてしまうのです。なぜ、最初に書いた英文が、その直後の和訳になるのでしょうか？

(1)brief excerpts of what …はどういう意味になるのでしょうか？ excerptを調べると引用、抜粋と書いてあったのですが「放送する」ということから抜粋？のような意味だと思ったのですがそれでも意味がわからないです。。。 基本的に間違えているのかもしれませんがこのような～of what it said was …のような形のit saidは挿入句のようだと今まで考えていたのですがそれでいいのでしょうか？ ofの後ろなのでwhat it saidを一塊と考えるとof + 節 となるから駄目だと思うのですがどういう風に考えるべきなのでしょうか？ お願いします。。。
