Gです。 こんにちは!! ～に促されて、と言う日本語表現を英訳しようとするのではなく、この表現で何を言いたいのかをまず感じてください。 そうすると、勝ちたいので、と言う簡単な日本語表現でこのフィーリングは出せる事がわかりますね。 ～because～と言う表現ですよ。 これは文法の知識ですね。 文法の知識だら英訳するのに使えるのです。 知識を使おうとするのではなく、知識を覚えるときに、そのときに、使おうと思ってほしいのです。 覚えようとするときにいつか使ってやるぞと思いながら身につけてほしいのです。 そうする事によって、文法の知識がただの知識ではなく、文章を作れる「使える文法」と変化するわけですね。 積んでいるという表現でどちらを表現したいですか? 進行形ですか現在完了進行ですか?と言う質問より、いましている事に関していいたいのですか、それとも今までやってきて今もやっていると言うフィーリングを伝えないのですか? このフィーリング選択をしない限り、この日本語の持つ（あなたの）フィーリングは誰も英訳する事は出来ません。 50％の確立で「適切な表現は出てくる」でしょう。 しかし、今の事を言っているつもりが今までの事を表現している文章では「誤訳」とやりますね。 よって、今回の場合は They are training very hardにするかThey have been training hardかを決めなくてはならないのです。 勝とうと思っているのでしばらくがんばっているのか、今がんばっているのか、ですね。 今までのほうを選んだら、たとえば、They have been training very hard because they want to beat their rival.となるわけです。 今の事であればThey are training very hard becauseとすればいいのです． ちょっと単語を変えてThe reason they have been training so hard is (because) they want to beat their rival. 簡単すぎますか? もうひとつの熟語がありましたね。 ～そうする事で、 They have been training very hard so that they will be able to beat their rival. so that～can/will be able toですね。 もう少しフィーリング表現方法を変えて表現してみましょうか。 Their wish to beat their rival is/has been the motivation for their hard training. ライバルに勝ちたいと言う思いが彼らの激しいトレーニングをしている原動力だ。 Their hard training comes from their wish to beat their rival.彼らの激しいトレーニングはライバルに勝ちたいと言う思いからきている。 文法用語の暗記にとらわれることなく文法が教えてくれるものをフィーリングに基づいて使う事が出来るのです。 文法は使うものなのです。 だから文法は大切なのですね。 だから、中学の文法だけでも十分英語を使うようになれると多くの人はいっているわけです。 今回のご質問で、ひとつの日本語表現が複数のフィーリングを感じさせる事があるから気をつけると言う事と日本語表現を他の日本語表現に変えることが出来るかということを考える事によって文法で習った知識を使う事によって英文が作れる、と言う二つのことを書かせてもらいました。 この5つの例文を今日と明日でフィーリングとともに身につけてしまってください。 使役動詞のmakeとかhelpなども使えない事はないでしょう。 でもわざわざ堅苦しい表現を今使わなくてもいつか「使ったほうがいい」とする日が来るときまでおいておけばいいですね。 基礎は基礎、英語の土台作りが先です。 根本的な事柄、基本となる習得姿勢などが英語を使えるようになる道に導いてくれるのです。 砂で出来た土台はいつか必ず崩れます。 そのひとつが試験文法であるわけですからそんなものは気にしないことです。 あくまでもいつか英語を自由に使いこなせるようになるための文法だけを身につければいいのですね。 I wrote this because I want you to be able to use English better.としますか？ それとも、 I hope you will use these ideas so that you will be able to use English better.にしますか？ 同じひとつの私のフィーリングを感じてください。 参考になりましたでしょうか。 理解しにくいところがあったり追加質問がありましたら締め切る前にまた書いてくださいね。

>[advanced]に変えても意味は通じるでしょうか？ 和英辞書の結果でしょうか？困惑するでしょうね。 スポーツの世界ならencourageでわかる気がする。 trainは、ほかの人を訓練させるの他動詞ですが、 自動詞もあるのでまぎわらしいです この場合 practiceが判りやすいです。

＃２の方はmotivated by を推薦されています。 私はこういう場合urged by, pressed byを使います。 《内側から湧き出てくる強い感情に突き動かされて》といったニュアンスが出て来ます。
