こんにちは！ （１）Q1.They may start to believe that spelling really does not matter. の文の中でなんで[does]が入るのでしょうか。isではいけませんか。 matter が動詞です。「重要である」という一般動詞です。ですから、否定文にすると、Spelling really does not matter. スペリングは実際には重要ではない、という意味です。 （２）It certainly does matter. こちらは、強意の助動詞doです。 I love music. を強めると、I do love music.（僕は本当に音楽が好きなんだ）となります。 It certainly matters.（それは確かに重要だ） という元の文があって、それを強めて、It certainly does matter.（それは確かに、本当に重要だ）となっているわけです。

matter は動詞なので、 is は使えません。 It matters.で she sings.（彼女は歌う） のように それは（重要な事柄として）問題となる と言う意味の動詞です。 it certainly does matter. does を抜いて It certainly matters. 意味は同じですが、does を入れて強調しています。 She has money. 彼女はお金持ちだ。 She does have money. 彼女はお金持ってるからね～ と強調して言う時など。

この場合のmatterは動詞なのでisではなくdoes になります。 ~doesn't matter は会話でも非常に多い頻度で使われますからセットで覚えてしまったら便利かと思います。 it does matter の場合、文法的には does は要らないのですが、上に書いたように ~deosn't matter があまりに慣用的なため、does が加えられたものと考えてよろしいかと思います。~does matter もたまに使われます。

ロッキーファイナルの予告編でスタローンが 「自分を信じなきゃ人生じゃない」 「叶わない夢はない」 という台詞があるんですが、普通は 「If it does not believe oneself, it is not the life 」 「There is not the dream that does not come true」 となると思うんですが、「There is not the dream that does not come true」とは言っているように聞こえません。 ヒアリングがまったく駄目なの＋スタローンの声がこもっているせいか、何と言っているか解りません。 彼は「叶わない夢はない」を何と言っているのでしょうか？

First, I can see how one would think that atheists have a mental block. However, I think that if you don't agree with something, you're not going to believe it's the right way of thinking, and therefore may believe the person that does believe it is not capable of seeing the flaws in the religion, or lack thereof. I've had to try very hard to see why people can believe somethings, such as Catholics, or even the people that join cults! How can they believe it?! - Peril to で始まる文の構造
The Mysterious Affair at Stylesを読んでいますが、Poirotのセリフでわからないところがあるので教えてください。 "Beware! Peril to the detective who says: 'It is so small -- it does not matter. It will not agree. I will forget it.' That way lies confusion! Everything matters." そのうちPeril で始まる文は、「～なんて言う探偵はあぶないですよ」というような訳がついているようなのですが、perilの品詞や省略されているものがあるのかなど、よくわかりません。toがついているので、探偵にとって危険だ、と言っているように感じてしまうのですが、それでは意味が通らないので、わからなくなってしまいました。 よろしくお願いします。
