問題はなぜ能動態で非文なのに、受動態で文法的になるのか、という点ですよね。 実は *I saw John know French. John was seen to know French. この二つは構文が違います。 あまり知られていませんが、文章語で、 [SVO to do]((文)) O が…であることがわかる《◆to do は通例状態を表す》（ジーニアス） という構文があります。 He didn't see her foolishness. ＝He didn't see that she was foolish. ＝《文》 He didn't see her to be foolish. （リーダーズ） We saw the project to be impracticable. その計画は実行不可能だとわかった He was seen to be eating his lunch. 彼は昼食をとっているようだった. （ジーニアス） したがって、 John was seen to know French. という文は「知覚動詞＋O＋原形不定詞構文」の受動態ではないのです。 なお、知覚動詞の能動態で know が使えないのは他の方々のおっしゃるとおりです。

I saw her laughed at. I saw her laughed. どっちが正しいのでしょう？ 検索をすると、I saw her laughed at. は殆どないようです。 しかし、 I was laughed at by everyone. のような文を見ます。 あるいは、 I was spoken. は、I was spoken to. としないと、おかしいような気がします。

重複してたらスミマセンが、疑問に思っていることの回答が見つからなかったので、質問させて頂きます。 知覚動詞の受動態なのですが、 (1)We saw him enter the room.→He was seen to enter the room. (2)We saw him entering the room.→He was seen entering the room. 上記は一応理解しています。 (3)We heard his name called→ His name was heard・・・・・・ 上記(3)のような過去分詞の場合はheardの後どのようになるのでしょうか？ そもそもWe heard his name call.なのかWe heard his name callingなのか、 という部分も少し理解が乏しいので、どなたか詳しい方の解説をお願い致しますm(_ _)m

I still can't believe that the young man I saw at the restaurant was Frankie. He's grown so much! （質問） sawをhad seenには置き換えられないでしょうか？（意味が変わったとしても、文法的に正しければそれでよいです）置き換えられたとしたら、had seenのほうは、どういった意味になるのでしょうか？
