[...as it was]で「そのままでいい」?
ＮＨＫラジオ英会話講座より She kept working for five more years. This woman liked her life as it was. 彼女はさらに5年間働き続けたの。この女性は自分の人生をそのままでいいと思ったのね。 (質問）[as it was.]で「そのままでいい」と和訳されていますが、理解できません。[as it was]の後に何か省略されていますか?ビートルズの[Let it be.]を思い出しましたが、同類ですか?易しい例題を2～3お願いできませんか? よろしくお願いいたします。以上

as は接続詞で、～のままで、～のように の意味です。 as it was の it は her life を指して、彼女の人生がそのままで、 になります。 Do as you like. 好きなようにしなさい. Do in Rome as the Romans do. 《諺》 郷に入りては郷に従え. Take things as they are. 物事をありのままに受け入れよ 《現状に甘んじよ》. Leave them as they are. そのままにしておきなさい. as you know ご承知のように. 余計なお世話でしょうが・・・・、 せっかく英語を勉強されているのですから、お手元の英和辞書を 丁寧にひく習慣を身につけると、ほとんどの場合は答えは見つかると 思います。 辞書で as を引いて、接続詞の用法のところを確認してください。

～のように，～のままで，という意味がありますね． 辞書で確認してください． 例文を挙げると， Try to see things as they are. （ものごとを，ありのままに見るようにしなさい．） Leave them as they are. （そのままにしておいてください．）

I have been working as a server in a restaurant for the past couple years. On several occasions, guests have left me their phone numbers on the check, often along with a note expressing interest in me and asking me to text them sometime. I have never taken anyone up on his or her offer, as I am in a happy and committed marriage. (I wear my ring every shift, so I never know if these guys are just not paying attention or choosing to ignore it.) Recently, another server had this happen, and she did not text them, as she has a boyfriend.
