No.2です。 ●「withは後に続くものがある場合」かどうかは知識がありません。しかし、「始り」があれば当然次に何かが来るわけですから、後に続くものの有無は関係ないように思います。 ●ジーニアス大英和では、自動詞としてのbeginの項に、begin at = begin withと説明しています。[begin at page five, line ten ＝ begin with line ten, page five（5ページの10行目から始める）]となっています。実用的にはwithとatとは似たようなものだ、ということに解釈できます。 ●withとatのニュアンスの違いから、No.1さんのようなくくり方（区別の仕方）になるのではないでしょうか。 ●なお、先の回答で、＜「to begin with」を、used to introduce the first point to make（するべき最初の点を導入する）＞としましたが、まるカッコ内を（何かするときの最初の点を導入する）に訂正します。 以上ご参考になれば幸です。

回答有難うございます。unitというのが「１つの構成単位」で例文では１と２と分かれているから、バラバラのうちの1つを表すwithを使うという理解でよいでしょうか?

回答有難うございます。すみません。たくさん例文をいただいたのですが混乱してきました。atの方が使われている例があまりないということですね。英語は論理的だと昔、予備校の先生が仰ってましたが、僕が思うに論理的に解釈しなおした日本人の勤勉さを称えるべきなのではと。実際のところ英語にはまだまだ論理的でない部分が(特に僕自身にとって)結構あるような気がします。

絶対にダメということはないでしょうが，どちらかといえば，with はばらばらに存在するもののうちのコレから始めるという意味合いでしょう．たとえば，複数の本があり，そのうちのこの本から始めるという場合とか，どの仕事から始めるとか． ある範囲があって，そのある一点から（例えば，あるページから）は at で，ある時点から始める場合は at （時刻）か on （月）です． 例文では，ある本の中の（，他の章からでなく）第一章からというので at を正解としたのでしょう． 間違え易いのは時を示す場合の from です．これはある時間の継続を意味するので，いつからだけでなく，いつまでを示す必要があります(from～ to～)．begin from とはなりません．

某パンメーカーのキャンペーンで、点数シールを集めてバッグがもらえるんですが、そのバッグに書いてある英語が気になっています。 「Go with me！」って書いてあるんですが、そういう言い方ってするものでしょうか？ 何か変な感じがします。 「一緒に行こう」と言うとしたら「Come with me！」または「Let's go！」なのではないでしょうか？ 「me」がバッグのことで、バッグが「出かけるときに連れて行ってね」と言いたいのだったら「Take me with you！」なのではないでしょうか？ 周りの人に聞いても「Go with me！」は別に変だと感じないようで、私が気にしすぎなのでしょうか？

こんにちは。 今回は、このタイトルのことについて教えてください。 「いつも～の言うとおりにする必要はないんじゃないか？」 で Dont be always at ～ (). だとどちらも良さそうな気がするんですが、 実はdisposalのみがＯＫだと文法書にあります。 at one's mercyでも同じような意味があるかと 思いますが、何故これは不可なのでしょうか？ ２つの持つニュアンスというか、そういうものの 違いが調べても良く分かりません。 どなたか分かる方いらっしゃいましたら教えてください。

「～によって」という、原因や手段を表す場合に、byとwithのどちらを使い分ければいいのか分からなくなってしまいました。 例えば「前向きな思考で幸せを手に入れる」という文章を英訳する場合、「I attain happiness with/by positive thinking.」と、やはりどちらを使うか迷ってしまいます。 両者をどのように使い分けるのか、出来ればいくつか例文なども添えて教えて下さい。 よろしくお願いします。
