setting things on fire の意味がわかりません
こんにちは。 英語のビデオを観ていたら、setting things on fireという表現が出てきました。クローズドキャプションがついているのですが、以下のような部分です。 I looked 14, so they see this 14- year-old-looking girl who's like setting things on fire and they think, "Oh, something must be seriously wrong", instead of looking at the causes of that. setting things on fireで検索してみると、文字通り物を火にくべるという意味ではなく、他の意味で使われているようなのですが、今ひとつ意味がよくわかりません。手もとの辞書にも載っていません。 setting things on fireがどのような意味になるのか、教えていただけますでしょうか？ よろしくお願いします。

to set on fire で「放火する」という慣用句です。 この文は「物を火にくべる」というより、その辺のものに放火しまくっているという感じです。 で、それに対して「どっかおかしい」と言うだけでその原因を誰も見ようとはしていない＝その少女がなぜ放火することに喜びを覚えるのか誰も追求しようとはしていない、ということです。
