英語は門外漢ですが、自分なりに考えたので書いてみました。 問題文は、 「全てのweaklingsはcowards」であり、 「cowardsのほとんどがfools」である。 よって「weaklingかつfoolであるものが必ず存在する」 という推論の誤りは以下の文の誤りのうちどれに最も近いか ですよね。 この推論の誤っている点は、 全てのweaklingsはcowardsであるけれども、全てのcowardsがweaklingsであるわけではない。よってほとんどのcowardsがfoolsであったとしても、必ずしもその中にweaklingsがいるとは限らないので、「weaklingでありfoolであるものが必ず存在する」とは言えない。 という点ですよね。 例えば、前提条件の実際の数字が、 「weaklingsが10人、その10人を含むcowardsが1000人いて、cowardsの99%がfoolsである」 であった場合には、cowardsの残りの1%、つまり10人はfoolsでない。この10人全てがweaklingsであるならば、weaklingsかつfoolsである人は一人もいないことになるので誤り、と。 これと比べると、 「paintersの一部はmusiciansでもある」 「musiciansの一部はdancersでもある」 よって「何人かはpaintersかつdancersである」 という推論は最初のものと同じ構造であり、たしかに答えとして成立しているのではないかと思うのですがいかがでしょう?

＃１です。 肝心なところでミスを犯しました。馬鹿なわたし～！ ＞(C) ★これは、(A)と同じ論法になりますね。 →これは、『一番最初の英文の例と同じ論法になりますね』の間違い。ここで、ミスったら答えがなくなりましたね。(^^;) はい、答えは (C) です。 ＞(D) ・・・ですから、章楽しますね。 →「省略しますね」の間違い。どうも焦っていたみたいですね。 ごめんなさい。
失礼、all tooは強調だったんですね。 No.2の 「全てのweaklingsはcowards」 は 「多くのweaklingsはcowards」 で読み替えてください。それでも論証には影響はありませんので。
他の方も解答されているようなのでちょっと追記します。 No.1さんは ［Ａ＝Ｃである。なぜなら、Ａ＝Ｂであり、Ｂ＝Ｃだからである。というのが大雑把な論法］ であると書いておられますが、上の式が「=」でつなぐことができるのであれば、これは大雑把ではなく完全に正しい推論であり、flawed pattern of reasoningとはいえないでしょう。 ここでの誤りは、allやfewやsomeで修飾されることによって集合の大きさが変わっているために「=」で結んではいけないところを「=」であるかのようにして推論をしたために生じているものです。
