cubicsさん、 Nao_F さん、お気を悪くされたらごめんなさい。 eachはAny number of things taken separately (Longman Dictionary Of Contemporary English)と定義されています。 従って、each の位置は質問者さんのお答えが正しいのです。 質問者さんのCan I have two each from these 4 kinds of cakes? でも充分通じるとは思いますが、fromでは無くて、 属性を表す、of の方が自然だと思います。 Can I have two each of these 4 kinds of cakes?（ケーキの種類の違いを強調） Can I have two each of these 4 kinds of cake.(ケーキという概念） が表現として適切な気がいたします。 因みに、大きな丸いケーキの一切れはa piece of cakeですが、 小さな丸いプチケーキなど、 明らかに最初から1人前として作られたケーキを数えるときは、 one cake, two cakes と数えます。 ですから、この4種類のケーキに切り分けられたケーキと そうでない一人前用のケーキが混在すれば、 ますます、two pieces eachよりも、two eachとした方が自然な表現であるといえます。 いかがでしょうか。ご参考まで。

質問がうまくまとまりませんでした。長文です。 質問１ 客がレストランの店員に店にある炭酸飲料の種類について聞く時、 (a) What kind of soft drinks do you have? (b) What kinds of soft drinks do you have? (c) What kind of soft drink do you have? (d) What kinds of soft drink do you have? のどれが妥当でしょうか。 質問２ 複数種類あることが想定されるとき、 上記(a)と(c)のように、kindを複数形にするのではなく、 そのあとの名詞（soft drink）を複数形にするのでしょうか。 質問３ these kinds of envelope という言い方ですが、 封筒が複数あってその種類が一種類しかなくても 封筒が複数あってその種類が複数種類あっても この言い方になりますか？ 上記の質問の意図を説明します。 まず、質問１(a)の文を見かけました。 「（自分が）ここらへんいい加減に使っているな～」と思ったので、 確認するため手許にある本を見てみました。 本は、LONGMAN Dictionary of Common Errors という本です。 kind of の部分を引用します。 --------------------------------------- kind of 1 誤 There are many kind of job for people with qualifications. 正 There are many kinds of job for people with qualifications. 正 I enjoy all kind of sport. 正 I enjoy all kinds of sport. 英訳をみていただけないでしょうか？ 『私はそのパーティーではアイスクリームケーキとスパゲティと海老のリゾットを作りました。こんなメニューになったのは私の体質のせいなんです。私は普通のケーキにのっかってる生クリームがダメなんです、あれを食べると気持ち悪くなるんです。肉も鶏肉なら平気ですがそれ以外の肉を食べると気持ち悪くなります。とにかく油に弱いんです。』 ↓こんな訳で大丈夫でしょうか？ I made an ice-cream cake, spaghetti and shrimp risotto for the party. 何気なく使ってる言葉ですが、きっちりとした違いを確認したいので教えてください。 たとえば、一台の車の種類について話す時は this kind of carでいいんでしょうか？ 二台以上の車の種類については these kinds of carsになるんでしょうか？ またWhat kind of car is this? と一台の車の種類についてたずねる時はこれでいいとおもうんですが、二台以上の車の種類についてたずねる時も、KindにSはつかないで、そのままWhat kind of cars are these? となりますか？それとも複数なので、What kinds of cars are these? になるんでしょうか？ ちょっと頭の中で整理できなくなってしまったので、教えてください。

初めまして。 「私は２匹猫を飼っている」を英語にすると、 I have 2 cats. と、私は書きましたが、参考書の回答には I have two cats とありました。 私が書いたのは間違いでしょうか？ テストで書いたら減点されますか？ 回答お願いします。

ご回答ありがとうございます。 私の感覚と同じような回答でした！ しかし、私と違う大きな点は、 このように詳しく説明できなくて、 はっきりとした自信がありませんでした。 ofについても、同意できます（というか、おっしゃる通りなんだと思いますが）。 cakesについては、話題にしませんでしたが（今回はeachの場所が重要だったので）、 おっしゃる通り、waters（グラスの水、１人前に分けられてる）とか、 juces（種類がたくさんあるとき）とか使いますね。 やっぱり、英語は難しい？ ありがとうございました。
