和訳教えてください！！
To them, the young generation's self-indulgence breaks a time-tested social contract that emphasizes "ganbaru", or guts before glory. 若い世代のわがままは…「頑張る」を強調する社会の契約を破り、…？ 「To them,」「time-tested」の意味もよく分かりません。 Freeters take the diametrically opposite approach:work as little as necessary, then have fun for as long as possible until the money runs out. フリーターは全く正反対の方法を取る、すなわち必要なだけ働いて、そしてお金が尽きるまで出来るだけ長く楽しむ…？ お願いします(>_<)！！

To them は 前の文章がないと意味がわからないですよ。先に答えておられる方がとても丁寧に答えてくださっていますが、一箇所つけくわえておきますね。 gutsは根性ではないですよ。英語では「（しんどいことや望まないことを「いっちょやってやろうか」っていう）勇気」を指します。”gambaru”って書かれても英語圏の人は分かりませんよね？だから、orの後で同じことを説明してるんですよ。（この用法のorは頻出です。） guts before glory は「名声、栄誉」の（時間的に）前の「（一肌脱いでやるっていう）勇気」が直訳です。「頑張る」っていう言葉が英語にはないからこのように説明してるんですね。 それにしてもとても洗練された英語ですね。ＴＩＭＥか何かでしょうか。

time-testedは時の試練を経たという意。よって，「昔からの」といった意味でしょう。To themは前の文脈から判断するしかないのでは？social contractの意味は，社会的契約とか民約論ですが，ここでは，「社会一般の考え方」と訳してた方がよりわかりやすいのではないでしょうか。breakは社会的契約を「破る」といった意味を活かし，「反する」と訳しても良いでしょう。 となると，質問の前者の和訳は， 「To them，若い世代のわがままというのは，“頑張る”だとか根性なしで栄光無しといった，昔からの社会一般の考え方に反するものである。」 と考えられます。 後者の訳はそれでよいと思います。

Memories -the argument runs- are only present in our minds because they have been transformed from a past actuality into a present myth, which is a new experiences with those present ones which give them significance, illustrating what we are and not what they were. 和訳をしてもらいたいです。 意訳ではなくて、文法と単語と構文をしっかり押さえたうえで和訳してもらうと助かります。

After all, we live much longer now than we did when retirement was first introdused, and we keep our health for longer, too; so it is much more practical for people to continue to take an active part in society. Among business and professional people, it is not at all uncommon for retirement to signal the beginning of a second career, and a much more independent one that allows them to use their experience, such as working as a consultant. In other groups of society, too, people are beginning to see retirement as an opportunity to do new things. Organizations like the University of the Third Age encourage retired people to develop new hobbies and pursue new interests, and are becoming more popular and successful all the time. Many psychologists now take the view that successful retirement is all about making sure that you acquire new social roles, to replace the ones that you have lost through work, and activities of this sort are exactly the way that people do that. That can take many forms: some people feel needed by their gardens, and devote much of their time to taking care of them; while others take on more social responsibilities.

和訳をお願いします 長くなってすみません(>_<) It's been said that man stands alone because he alone stands. To put it another way, the first great step for mankind was the first bipedal step taken by our remote ( 1 ). The moment we started walking on our hind legs we freed our front legs to become our grasping, manipulative hands. And with tool-making hands we conquered the world. So we owe a great debt to our feet and should cherish them as one of the most important parts of our anatomy. But what a pity, we ( 2 ) do this. Instead we abuse them horribly. We sentence them to spend two-thirds of their life inside leather cells. We force them to walk on hard, tiring surfaces. And we completely ignore their health and well-being until they are in serious trouble and send out pain signals we can ( 3 ) ignore. The reason for this is we look down on them literally. They are too far away from our specialized sense organs. If we could examine them as ( 4 ) as we study our hands, we would take more care of them. But they are at the far end of the body, and most of the time they hardly rate a passing thought.
