That can result in dangers of its own.

Knowledge is power. Those who possess it have always sought to deny it to their enemies, particularly if it has military applications. But exactly what knowledge needs to be controlled depends on who those enemies are. Nor is the control of knowledge costless. A free society should regard it as a last resort. Scientists cannot build on each other's results if they do not know them. And governments are frequently tempted to hide not only what is dangerous, but also what is embarrassing. That can result in dangers of its own.
Nevertheless, the past six months have shown that the West in general, and America in particular, has new enemies. New controls are therefore being discussed as politicians and scientists try to work out a reasonable boundary between openness and secrecy.
Steven Jay Gould, Questioning the Millennium (Vintage)
May we all make such(1) excellent use of our special skills, whatever and however limited they may be, as we pursue the most noble of all our mental activities in(2) trying to make sense of this wonderful world, and(3) the small part we must play in the history of life.(p.179)
this wonderful world とthe small part でいいのでしょうか。
When a man travels abroad and finds totally different habits and standards of conduct prevailing , he begins to understand the power of custom.
differentはhabitsかそれともhabitsand standards かそれともhabits and standards of conduct なのかで迷います。それと、of conduct はstandardsなのかhabits and standards なのかで迷ってしまいます。
The designers of modern architecture believe that they are helping at the revival of architecture as a live art.

It is only human not to be able to do mathmatics.
This tremendous hunger for minerals to feed industry has made some source of supply that we used to think were adequate now look rather small.
I would hope that British understanding of the didtinctive traits exhibited by American people will make easier the cooperation between our two nations on which the peace og the world depends.
上の文のI would hope のwouldは何を表しているのでしょうか。
