すみません、１字余計なものが入っていましたので、これを削除して再送いたします。 （再送分） だいたいよく訳されていると思います。 ただ、(1)で、この場合過去完了は「過去の発話時点まで続いていたこと」を表しますので、「私がマリアにヤコブのことを尋ねたとき、彼女は長いこと彼から何も連絡がきていないことを認めた。」と訳す方が少しよくなるかも知れません。 なお、(2)は、細かいことですが、「訪ねた」→「尋ねた」の変換〔(1)も〕、「は」の使い方の工夫（変更）をお勧めします。 「私がマリアにヤコブのことを尋ねたとき、彼女は最近彼からは連絡がこないのだということを認めた。」

過去形・過去完了についての質問です。 She had lived in London for three years when she was in her twenties. She lived in London for three years when she was in her twenties. 『彼女は２０代の時３年間ロンドンに住んでいた。』 で、下の文が正解なのですが、 期間の表現が書いてあっても、常に完了形を使うとは限らない。 って書いてあるのですが、いまいち納得できません。 過去の一時点において、３年間『継続』して住んでいたと思ったので過去完了にしました。 でも、期間を過去としてみなすことは継続という部分をどうみなしているのかさっぱり。 解説では、過去として含むとあります。 個人的には時制の接着性かなーと思ったのですが、はっきり。。。 I hadn't seen a lion before I was eight. ８歳になるまで、ずーとライオンを見たことが無かった。 I had lived in Kyoto for ten years before I came here. また他サイトで、『http://chiebukuro.yahoo.co.jp/service/question_detail.php?queId=9211108&link=1fisw2oP+R&Url=http%3A%2F%2Fmy.chiebukuro.yahoo.co.jp%2Fmember%2Fmyspace_quedetail.php%3Ff%253DY』 で、状態動詞のliveを進行形にしているのを見て出来るのかな？？って疑問を持ちました。 どうか、この違いをはっきりさせたいので、分かる方頑張りますのでお願いします。

" "but - Amy wasn't at home when I phoned. she was at her mother's" Amy hadn't been at home when I phoned, she'd beem at her mother's とは言えないのでしょうか、それとも過去形でも過去完了でも大丈夫なのでしょうか？ When Amy had gotten there , he was at the party とは言えますか？ 関係副詞について。 she went to the school on the day when it was demolished. と例文にがありました。まず、これの先行詞はon the dayなんでしょうか？ 関係副詞は前置詞+関係代名詞と覚えてきたんですが、このwhen には on the day which でも言い換え可能ですか？

英語の文章で、過去形の文章の時は時制を一致させるために、すべて過去形にするものなのでしょうか？例えば、「彼にそうしてくれと頼んだ」という文章では、 I asked him to do that. となるのかあるいは I asked him to have done that. のどちらが合っているのでしょうか？
