こんにちは質問させてください。 下記の英文について、 Among the assets he considers undervaled are logistics companies, including convenience store and supermarket. 意味は「資産の中で、過小評価されているのは、コンビニはスーパーを含む流通企業であると彼はみなしている」 になるかなと理解します。 が、文法的に どう説明がつくのかがわからずもやもやしています。 consider A to be B＝ A はBとみなす。 だと思います。上記の英文でなぜ「are」が必要なのでしょうか？ He considers undervaled to be logistics companies ではだめでしょうか？ ご教示どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。

ポイントは２つ、まず、主たる動詞は are です。 Among ～ is S. 「～の間に S がある」という倒置で主語は be の後にあります。 これを「～の間にあるのは S だ」というふうに、Among ～の方を主語のように訳しても同じです。 ただ、主語は名詞、というのがあるので普通には後の方が S とします。 SVC は S ＝ C で、逆にしても同じという感覚があれば、前から訳していく、というのでいいです。 もうひとつ、the assets he considers undervaled の部分で目的格の関係代名詞が補え、 the assets (that/which) he considers undervalued となります。 おっしゃるように consider O to be C で「O を C とみなす」ですが、 consider O (to be) C と説明され、SVOC としてもいいです。 ここでは O が関係代名詞の目的格に置き換わってなくなっています。 「彼が過小評価されていると思っている資産の中には、～を含む流通企業がある」 というふうに、「彼が過小評価されているとみなす資産」とかかっていきます。

１。consider A to be B＝ A はBとみなす。 だと思います。上記の英文でなぜ「are」が必要なのでしょうか？ はい、主語は「Among the assets he considers undervaled」（資産の中で、彼が過小評価されていると考えるのは）です。その中の（小）主語が he で、considers が動詞 undervaled が補語です。 ２。He considers undervaled to be logistics companies ではだめでしょうか？ はい、ダメです。

訳し方が解答を見ても分からないので、教えてください。 Older people are old when society consider them to be old. 人が老人になるのは社会が彼らを老人とみなしたときである。 この文ですが、when以下はまあいいと思いますが、 Old people are older when society consider them to be old{older} ではないのでしょうか。「人」と「老人では」この場合明らかに老人の方が年上ですから、老人にOlderをつけるべきではないのでしょうか。 また、最後はold{older}としましたが、どちらがいいのでしょうか。
