英文の意味を教えてください。
If I can't get a job straight away, I've always got my experience as a teacher to fall back on. という文章ですが、 すぐに仕事が得られないなら、頼りとされる先生としての経験をいつも得られるだろう。 と訳せますか？意味がよくわかりません。 英語に堪能な方、教えてください。

>If I can't get a job straight away, I've always got my experience as a teacher to fall back on. 直接的な意味としては、この一文だけでは全てを語れていないです 後半の部分は、I have an experience as a teacher to fall back on. の理解でいいです 最終的に言いたいことは、「(教師としての経験があるからそれに頼ることができる=また教師になればいい)」だと思います alwaysがややconfusingな表現ですが、「(経験があるから)"いつでも"教師になれる(戻れる)」という気持ちの現れだと思います 個人的意見としては、native的な表現ですが、適切な表現方法ではないと思います non-nativeにとってはやや「?」と思うような文です でもnativeだったら作るであろうなという英文です 学習者としては、学ぶ必要性の少ない表現です(お好みでどーぞ、という感じ)

ぱっと見で、 この人は今求職中である。この人は先生としての経験がある。 だから、もし求職難でも、最悪先生に戻ればいい。 そんなふうに読めましたが。 ここの fall backは単に落ちどころとして、「戻る」でいいと思いますよ。

fall back onのイディオムの勉強で出てきた文章なので、「頼りにする」という意味で使われていると思います。でも文章のニュアンスをつかめている点は流石ですね。

１。 すぐに仕事が得られないなら、頼りとされる先生としての経験をいつも得られるだろう。 ２。 すぐに仕事が得られなくても、私の経験が、頼りにできる教師としていつでもある。 この二つの読みがあるように思います。僕がパッと見た時最初に頭に入ったのは２でした。でもおっしゃるように、（現在完了ですから終わりは「いつも得られるだろう」ではないでしょうが）１も可能だと思います。 文の前半が今仕事が無い、しかし後半で無職に代わる物が上げられるかと思ったら、論理的にそれに代わる物が挙げられていないように見えます。無職でも経験だけで飯が食える人は別ですが、、、 ですから、この人が実際に教師の経験があるという１か、あるとは限らないという２か、いずれにしても、原文に欠点があり、翻訳以外の問題があるように思います。

What was the experience like? I see it as a very positive thing. I think it’s an honor to play on all those other people’s records. And even if sometimes it took away from my own personal time, I think that only made me more anxious to do my own things.
