it という代名詞は、話し手からの距離の存在を感じさせます。 その文の場合、「この箱」 といって相手に示している箱は自分の手の中にあると思われます。 「これの倍の大きさの箱が欲しい」 といっているので、this という表現が出てくるのが自然だと思います。
