病院において、MRSA感染者数が急増したときに、可能性が２つあります。 一つは、院内伝播（院内感染）で広がったのか、 それとも個々に持ち込まれたMRSAや個々の患者で個別にMRSAが発生して、結果としてMRSA感染者数が増加したのか？ です。 それを鑑別するのに、検出されたMRSAのゲノムを比較することで、あのA患者のMRSAは院内伝播（院内感染）によるもの、あの患者のMRSAは院内伝播ではなく持ち込みである．．とか、決めます。 follow its spread within one Thai hospital. とは、そういう風に、その病院で発生したMRSAを調べて、どの程度、院内伝播があったかを調べたという事です。 今までも、RFLPで調べてはいましたが、RFLPで違えば、まず、違う株といえますが、RFLPで同じバンドがでても、本当に同じなの？？という疑問がつきまといました。 全ゲノムで比較すれば、そういう意味の危うさがなくなるという事かと思います。
