ある遺伝子ＸをノックダウンするためにshRNAを導入したのでしょう。 比較実験を行うためには、上記配列を乱して（遺伝子Ｘをノックダウンしない）shRNR実験郡も用意しなければなりません。 そういうものを対照として比較実験をしましたということ。

scrambled shRNAは、negative controlとして使われるshRNAのことです。 どの遺伝子にも相同ではないscrambleな配列を使っているため、どの遺伝子もknockdownしないそうです。

The machine was used to protect persons.(その機械は人を守るために使われる。) という英文だと、be used to ... 「～するのに慣れる」という意味になってしまいますか？ ～するために使われるという意味にするにはどうすれば良いですか?

英文の訳を二つ、聞きたいです。 As with all of Chaplin's movies, これは「チャップリンの映画のすべてについて」という訳でいいんでしょうか？ 続きの英文を書くと it was filled with bits of body language, but the most delightful scene was one that took place in a braber shop. となっています。 さらに続く文章の訳を聞きたいんですが Chaplin as Hitler and Jack Oakie as Mussolini are shown shaves in chairs next to each other. ここで shaves の意味がよく分かりません。意味を調べるとヒゲとかヒゲをそる、という意味が出てきます。 next to だから「お互いに次に席でヒゲをそろうとする」？という感じなんでしょうか？ おねがいします。

この実験ではEphB2という受容体の発現の抑制が神経伝達に影響を及ぼすかを見ています。 そのために、まずshRNAがEphB2に働くようにレンチウイルスにU6‐shRNAを導入したものと今回質問しました、scrambled shRNAを導入したものを用意したと書いてありました。 やはりノックダウンという意味で通りますね(^^)v
