compared to ～とくれば，普通は compare A to B の受身表現ということになります。 be 動詞がない場合，修飾関係しかできず，述語がないことになります。 しかし，compare には自動詞としての用法があります。 compare with しか載っていない辞書もありますが，to も用いられます。 昔は to なら「たとえる」，with なら「比べる」とならったものですが，to でも「比べる」になります。 compare to ～で「～に比べられる」のような意味で，通常，favorably, poorly のような「よいか悪いか」を表す副詞がきます。 A compare(s) favorably to B で「A は B とよい方向で比べられる」 →「A の方が B よりもすぐれている」ということです。 今回は how になっています。 「これらの数字は，フィッチ社の債券格付けが spreads に比べてどうであったかを示している」 comrared は単に過去形です。 spread の意味によって，compare の意味が異なってくるかもしれませんが，専門外なので。

おっしゃる通り何処か変ですね。compared が compare だとすっきりしますけど。

How are you?以外に、How's things?と聞かれる場合がありますが、どうしてなのでしょう？いつも、「本当はHow are things?なのでは？？？」と疑問に思っています。
