表記方法についての英文なのですが…
アメリカの食品規制なのですが、下記サイトの165ページＤ－１にある次の文の意味がよくわかりません。どちらか一方だけでもご意見を頂けると嬉しいです。 All labels are enclosed by 1/2 point box rule within 3 points of text measure. １．all labelsというのは、「表記全体」という意味でしょうか？ もしそうであれば、labelは、個々の成分表示のことをさすのでしょうか？ ２．within 3 points of text measureとはどういう意味なのでしょうか？ 囲み枠線を、表示の文字から3ポイント離すようにということでしょうか？ http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/cfr_2002/aprqtr/pdf/21cfr101.108.pdf

1.Nutrition Facts のレーベルすべては、という意味だと思います。LabelはひとつのNutrition FactsのLabel。 2.ここのMeasureはこの意味ではと↓ 20. Printing. the width, measured in ems or picas, to which a column or page of printed matter is set. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Measure Dictuonary.comより)

二度出て来る"point"は、単位です。Adobe Photoshopというソフトの「単位」は、ユーザーによってpixel、inch、cm、mm、point、picaのどれかを選ぶことが出来ます。 "1/2 point box rule"の"rule"は「罫線」です。Nutrition Factsは箱や袋に貼付けてもいいのでラベルと呼んでいるのでしょうが、普通は印刷されています。その際、必ず目立つように「"0.5 point"の罫線で囲むこと」という規定しているわけです。 文字の単位はAdobe Photoshopではpixel、point、mmの中から選ぶようになっています。ここでは「text（文字）の尺度である"3 point"」と規定されています。 大意「ラベル（Nutrition Facts本文）は"3 point"で書かれた文字を、"0.5 point"の罫線で囲むこと」 手元にある米国製食品の成分表を見てみましたが、上の規定は「最小」のようで、もっと大きな文字で書かれたものもありました。いずれにせよ、趣旨は「目立たず、読めないような成分表であってはならない」ということで、購買者が商品の成分を比較検討し易いように…という配慮だと思います。
