小説を読んでいてどうしても理解できない部分がありました。 6. He could hardly have been blamed. （「彼にはほとんど責任がなかっただろう」で、いいでしょうか？ もう少しうまい訳し方があったら教えてください） 7. These questions you ask. That was the way it was. （wayの用法と意味を教えてください） 8. It was certainly possible, given that his eyes had been closed for a good second or two before he fired. （given、goodの意味を教えてください） 9. But Alan, in a lousy mood, needed to take it out on someone, so he took it out by making Sean feel even worse. （訳をしてください[涙]） 10. I wouldn’t want to be doing that if I couldn’t use a gun, so it’s only fair that I make you ready. （be doin周辺の意味がわかりません） 教えてください。 宜しくおねがいします。

またまたこんにちは。 6. He could hardly have been blamed. これは"You couldn't really blame him."と同じだと考えて「彼のせいではなかった」「彼を責める事は出来ない」。 7. These questions you ask. That was the way it was. この場合のwayは「やり方」「習慣」みたいに考えればいいと思います。howで代用する事も出来ますね（That was how it was.)。「ただ（理由があるわけではなくていつも）そうだったんだよ」みたいな感じでしょうか。 8. It was certainly possible, given that his eyes had been closed for a good second or two before he fired. ここでgivenは"given the fact that..."「～だと考えると、～を考慮に入れると」という事だと思います。goodはこの場合「たっぷり、しっかり」と強調する言い方。「彼が発射する前にじっくりと数秒目を閉じていた事を考えると、その可能性はあった。」 9. But Alan, in a lousy mood, needed to take it out on someone, so he took it out by making Sean feel even worse. "take xx（物） out on **（人）"で、全く関係ない人に当たる、という意味です。「機嫌の悪かったアランは誰かに当たらずにはいられず、ショーンにもっと嫌な思いをさせる事で発散した。」 10. I wouldn’t want to be doing that if I couldn’t use a gun, so it’s only fair that I make you ready. 「もし銃が使えないならそうはしたくない。だから君が準備出来るようにするのが当然だ。」"it's only fair"で「～するのが当然、正当なやり方」という意味があります。 あまりいい日本語の文じゃなくてごめんなさい。これで本の内容と一致するようでしたら、もうちょっと適切な訳はご自分で考えて理解出来るといいのですが参考になれば…。

下記の文ですが、意味はとれるので問題ないのですが、 文の構造についていくつかの疑問があります。ご教授いただけたらと思います。 （1）It was not until baby was fed that he stopped crying. 本来は、The baby did not stop crying until he was fed だと思います。これだと意味もわかり易いのですが、強調構文になった途端、理解に苦しみます。 ここでのthatは ～なのは、というような役目？ (2) Who was it that read my diary while I was out? it that read のところが解釈に苦しみます。 (3) I don't want there to be any trouble. there to be のところがよく判りません。

A few months ago, my husband uncovered an affair I was having with an old flame. He moved out and initiated divorce proceedings, but in the time since, I was able to convince him that I am truly repentant and to give our marriage another chance for the sake of our children. The problem I have now is that he says that if we are to stay married, he wants it to be an open marriage.
