Among the difficulties is the presence of terms like udu/dx, involving the product of velocities, which means that we cannot add two solutions of the equation together and so construct a third equal to their sum.

In simpler terms, brain makes mind. Science can demonstrate no way for the mind to occur except as a result of the neurological functioning of the brain. Without the brain’s ability to process various types of input in highly sophisticated ways, the thoughts and feelings that constitute the mind would simply not exist. On the other hand, the brain’s irresistible drive to create the most vivid, sophisticated perceptions possible means that it cannot help but generate the thoughts and that are the basic elements of mind. Neurologically speaking, then, the mind cannot exist without the brain, and the brain cannot exist without striving to create the mind. The relationship of mind and brain is so intimately inked, in fact, that it seems most reasonable to consider the terms as two different aspects of the very same thing.

Among the ancient and influential religions of the world, there is none as strict as Judaism for classifying foods as fir or unfit to eat. Foods which meet these standards are considered kosher-that is, fit or proper. For example, any animal which has cloven hooves and chews its cud is kosher. It is forbidden to eat pig, camel or rabbit because they lack one of these two qualifications. Only fish with fins and scales may be eaten, which means that octopus, squid, shrimp, crab, and catfish are forbidden by dietary laws. Chicken and turkey may be eaten. There is a special law that forbids eating meat, including poultry, and milk products together. Utensils used for meat may not be used for diary produced and vice versa. There is also a ritual method of killing animals that may be eaten. Animals that die of disease or that are found dead may not be eaten. A variety of rules must be observed in the slaughterhouse. A slaughterer has special qualifications and training, and may only use a very sharp knife in order to minimize the animal's suffering. Following the slaughter, the meat must be rinsed in water to remove all traces of blood. To eat a rare steak with traces of blood is out of the question. Orthodox Jewish butchers do not keep hindquarters of meat in their shops. The hindquarters are sold to nonkosher butchers because Jews are forbidden to eat the sciatic nerve and the surrounding blood vessels. Nowadays, while many Jews condnue to refrain from eating pork and other traditionally forbidden foods, they will enjoy trying just about anything else. Why does the Old Testament go into dietary laws in such detail? ltls only a guess, but when the ancient Hebrews left their Egyptian bondage to wander for years in the desert, suffering all sorts of hardships, these strict rules were vital to promoting both hygiene and a sense of solidarity among the people. If your plane arrives in Israel on a Friday evening and you want a meal, you're out of luck. The Jewisll day of rest begins at sunset on Friday and runs until sunset on Saturday. And, of course, the Christian day of rest is a day later than that of the Jews, on Sunday

If there is one opinion that dominate in the Third World, at least among its politicians and intellectuals, it is that there is little hope for Third World countries to get over poverty unless they free themselves from their present state of dependency on the rich of countries. I think one must begin any discussion of policy choices for the Third World, assenting to this opinion.  It is, in its essence, a correct and very important definition of the situation. This need not mean that one has to assent to the opinion in all its forms. Thus I wouldn't assent to the view that the poverty of the Third World was historically caused by its invasion by Western imperialism, nor that the wealth of the West continues to be based on the sacrifice of the Third World, nor that revolution in the Third World are the only way to change the condition of dependency.  It is to the point, however, to say that much of economic relations between Third World countries and the northern half of the globe is harmful rather than useful for the former. Put simply, in a lot of bargains between the poor and the rich, ( ) get richer and ( ), at best, don't gain much. It is also clear, in the case of the Third World, that development, if it means anything at all must mean a change in this relationship. (6) Cleopatra went to the palace school with theother royal princes and princesses. She became fluent in nine languages and was the first member of her family who could speak Egyptian. Cleopatra had tremendous appeal. Even the Greek biographer Plutarch, who disapproved of her behavior, describes her in glowing terms: “The charm of her presence was irresistible, but there was an attraction in her person and conversation, together with a force of character, which showed in her every word and action. Everyone who met her fell under her spell.” (7) When Ptolemy died in 51 BCE, he left his kingdom to the 18-year-old Cleopatra. Even though she was old enough to rule, according to Egyptian law, she couldn't rule alone. Ptolemy's will set up joint rule by Cleopatra and her 12-year-old brother, Ptolemy X III. (8) According to Egyptian tradition, pharaohs married their siblings or children to keep sower within the royal family. Cleopatra had to marry a brother or a son, and this consort would be her official husband. It would be a marriage of politics, not love. Cleopatra had no sons when she came to the throne, so her first co-ruler was Ptolemy XIII. (9) Cleopatra and Ptolemy ruled together for several years, but Cleopatra wasn't very good at sharing. She left her brother's name out of official documents─on purpose─and had her own picture and name stamped on Egyptian coins. This didn't go over very well with Ptolemy. Nor did it please the court officials of Alexandria, the capital city. (10) Alexandria's officials decided that Ptolemy would be easier to control than Cleopatra. so they plotted to overthrow the strong-willed queen. Knowing that her life was in danger, Cleopatra escaped to Syria, where she raised an army to help her regain power.

  • lease interest

The term “lease interest” means the excess rent paid for the same or similar replacement property over actual rent payable plus cash bonuses or advance rent paid (including maintenance or operating charges) for each month during the unexpired term of the Insured’s lease. excess rentというのは、新しく貸りた物件の家賃が損壊を受けた物件の家賃を超える部分、ということでしょうか? The term “net lease interest” means that sum which placed at 6% interest rate compounded annually would equal the Lease Interest (less any amounts otherwise payable hereunder).
