one dayとa certain dayの違いは？
「ある日」は英語で[one day/ some day/a certain day]があると聞きました． one dayは過去の「ある日」で some dayは「未来のいつか」を表しますよね． そして辞書にはa certain dayはsome dayと違って，いつの日かはわかっているけど，言う必要がないときや言いたくないときに使われる． と書いてありました．ここまではわかります． しかし，問題集で 「私の家族は１２月のある日にその山を一周歩きます．」とありました My family walk around the mountain once on a certain day in December. かと思ったのですが，答えには My family walk around the mountain one day in December. とありました．ここで疑問が３つあります． (1)一周とあるので，一回歩く，ととらえてonceを入れたのですがどうなのでしょう？また２周，３周・・・・・と続く場合はどう表現すればいいのでしょう？ (2)今の習慣のことなのにone dayは使えるのでしょうか？ (3)この場合のa certain dayにつく前置詞はonであっていますか？

one day は 未来のある日にも使うことが出来ます。 One day he will～ とか One day, I am goin to～ 等。 a certain dayは、ある（特別な)日、であって辞書に載っている 使い方のみに限られていません。 １ なくていいです。で、walk でなくwalks だと思います。 ２周、３周と回数にどうしてもこだわる場合は、twice, three time もっと自然に、数回程度という意味で言うなら、several times ２ 使えるかもしれませんが、12月の「ある」日ならば、 家族にとって特別、特定の日だと推測できるのでcertain day の方が訳として適しているとは思います。 ３ day に対しては on で問題ないと思います。

No.1です。 familyについてですが、たとえば、The patient's family were all exmained.ということも可能です。例文のfamilyは、家族のそれぞれで、weというような複数扱いもokのようです。"My family walk" と "My family walks"のgoogleでのヒット数にさほど差が無いので全体の意識か個々の意識かにより扱いはどちらでもよいと思います。

(1）walk around ですでに一回りするという意味があります。複数回でしたらwalk around three times/twiceなどとなります。 (2)たしかに過去の出来事に対しone dayとなりますが、one of these days, or some dayという解釈もありますので、文脈からは、okということでないでしょうか。 http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/one_day (3)on Sunday日曜日に、on a Sunday(過去・未来の）ある日曜日に などと同じで特定の日を示すのでonであっていると思います。googleで"the mountain * a certain day で検索しても*に該当する前置詞は、onだけのようです。
