次の文の中に出ててくる単語のしっくり来る訳を教えてください。
以前マイナーヒーローで質問したものですが、間違って前後の文章を載せるのを忘れてしまいました。皆さんに迷惑をかけてしまった事を改めてここでお詫びしようと思います。本当に申し訳ありませんでした。質問したい文の中の単語は次の通りです。「Sylvia Norton visits Praed St. to ask Pons to find her missing father, Capt. Hyatt Norton. Norton was a minor hero, being sole survivor of a ship that sank carrying a cargo of diamonds: some of which he saved. 」この文の中の「minor hero」という箇所がどうしてもしっくり来る意味に訳せません。辞書を見てもマイナーは（規模の小さい）とか(小さい）という意味で載っていましたが、私なりに直訳すると「小さなヒーロー」としか訳せません。どなたか英語の見識をお持ちの方教えてください。お願いします。

「ちょっとした英雄」で如何でしょうか? 「大英雄」なら「great hero」,それとは比べくもないが、「そこそこのヒーロー」ということで。

わたしの感覚では、たとえば、うちのクラスの山田君は 勉強もできるスポーツもできる。 いわば3年Ｄ組のminor hero。 もしくは釣り吉の佐藤さんは、あっちの世界でminor hero。 山田君が将来、ノーベル賞でもとって世界をあっといわせると major heroに昇格、みたいな感じでしょうか。

お世話になります。よろしくお願いします。 英語の質問サイト http://forum.wordreference.com/threads/occasionally-vs-sometimes.1664246/ の真ん中より少し下のrrose17さんの投稿部分の最後の一文に Sometimes could mean a whole range of things, from occasional to every so often to regularly. という文があります。 この文の訳(特に後半のfrom occasional~以降)を教えて頂きたいのですが。 occasionalは形容詞、regularlyは副詞、every so oftenは「時々」という意味だと思うのですが、 「from occasional to regularly」という「～から…まで」という繋がりで考えると、「from 形容詞 to 副詞」となりバランスが取れないと思うですが、この部分の文構造はどうなっているのでしょうか？ どなたか分かる方がいましたら教えてください。 よろしくお願いします。

(mistakeとあるが、mistakeではないのでは)
