there is とthere areの使い分けは、自分の頭の中では単数はthere is 複数はthere areという考えしかないのですが、ほかに何か決まりごとがあるのでしょうか？。例えば、NHKラジオ徹底トレーニング英会話7月号78ページにあった英文で、There's lots of content out there that I don't want them to see.（そこには見てほしくないコンテンツがたくさんあるから）というのがありましたが、lots ofだから複数扱いのような気がするのでthere are とはならないのでしょうか？。contentにsがついていないのも、納得できません。contentは単複同形ですか？

今読んでいる本の中に、↓の文がありました。 there must be millions of girls out there who have things actually going for them. there must be millions of girls out thereは 外には星の数ほど女の子はいる～だとは思うのですが、 who have things actually going for themの部分がよく分かりません。 男の子一般に関する見解を語っているようなので、themはguysでwhoはgirlsかなとは思うのですが…。 それと、↓の文、お母さんのお腹にいる赤ちゃんについて何か言っているんだな～くらいしか分かりませんでした。 since if it's a boy she wont push, due to not wanting to bring another y-chromosomed oppressor into the world. どなたか分かる方、教えていただけませんでしょうか。 よろしくお願いします。

I have a friend who I think is a snoop, though she's otherwise a very nice person. She has admitted to looking in her sister-in-law's closet when said sister-in-law was not home. I haven't actually seen her looking through my stuff, but I once found her with her hand on the doorknob of my laundry. I feel sure she was looking while I was in the bathroom. Just the other day, there was another example. I went to the bathroom, and when I came out, I heard a noise that sounded like a door closing, and she was standing in front of my pantry. Why do some people behave this way? I find it extremely annoying. If I know she's coming over, I put everything away because she is the type of person who will comment about anything that is sitting out -- be it food, mail, books, magazines, etc. ここでのsitting outはどのような意味でしょうか？よろしくお願いします

modulate two stages out of phase...古いアンプのトレモロ回路に関する説明なのですが、この分野に非常にうといため、いくら調べてもしっくり来ません。この分野にお詳しい方がいましたら、ざっとどういう意味になるのかご教授いただけると幸いです。 ...that was kind of a balanced modulator system, where i modulated two stages out of phase, and then the tremolo voltage as such would cancel in the output circuit, but the signal voltage of the guitar would remain there... この後、そういう状態になることがネックだった、という文が続くのですが、なぜそれがネックになるのかよく分かりません。intensity variationがなんたらかんたらと説明が続くのですが……

詳しい説明ありがとうございました。 こういう文は本当に苦手で、1度直訳にしてからでないと、 その文の意味が把握できなくて困ってしまいます。 Parismadamさんの直訳→意訳は、本当に解かりやすく参考になりました。 熟語をまるまる覚えればいいのでしょうが、どうしてもその言葉自体、 何を意味するのか、何のために使われているのか、といった点で、 悩んでしまうことがあるので、直訳は大変助かりました。 ありがとうございました。
