英訳を見てください
英訳をしたんですが、間違いがあれば指摘して欲しいです。 都市生活で嫌なところの1つは、エレベーターに乗ることだ。乗ること自体は何も問題ではない。 快適で安全だし無料である。しかし、あの沈黙には閉口する。他人と一緒に狭い空間に閉じ込められ 一言も口をきかないでいるのは、どことなく奇妙なものだ。エレベーターで知らない人に言えるのは、 せいぜい「9階お願いします」ということくらいだ。 The one of dislike in an urban life is taking an elevator. Taking itself is no problem. It is a comfortable, safe and free. But I am embarrassed at the silence. It is somehow strange that I am locked with others in narrow space and everbody is silence. I can say the person I don't know in the elevator is that "please, nine floor" at most. 冠詞などが不安です。文章でおかしな点があれば指摘して欲しいです。 おねがいします。

○ 私なりの変更点を加えてみました。参考になれば幸いです。 ＞The one of dislike in an urban life is taking an elevator. → One of the things I don't like in an urban life is taking an elevator. ※ 「one of ...」に「the」はつけません。そして「one of ...」の「...」部に入るのは複数形です。 ＞Taking itself is no problem. → Taking an elevator is no problem in itself. ※ 「itself」再帰代名詞です。「take」の目的語で用いるのは、「take」の主語が「it」の場合だけです。「in itself」を用いると「それ自体では」の意味が表せます。 ＞It is a comfortable, safe and free. → It is comfortable, safe(,) and free. ※ 「形容詞」の前に「a」はつけません。 ＞But I am embarrassed at the silence. → But I feel embarrassed at the silence we keep while we are on it. ※ どのような（場合の）「静けさ」かを示す方が良いです。「silence」だけでは「エレベーターの音が静かなこと」のようです。 ＞It is somehow strange that I am locked with others in narrow space and everbody is silence. → I get a bit awkward, feeling as if I am locked with the people I'm not familiar with in a narrow space. ※ 「奇妙だ(=strange)」でも良いのでしょうが「緊張して自然に振舞えない(=awkward)」の方が良いかもしれません。「feel as if ..」を使うと「（まるで）・・・しているような気がして」という意味が出ます。（なお、「as if」の後は、その実感の度合いからから「直説法現在」を用いています。） ＞I can say the person I don't know in the elevator is that "please, nine floor" at most. → All I can do is (to) ask the person standing near the door if he could press the button, saying, "The ninth floor, please." ※ 「できることは～（せいぜい）だけだ」という意味を出すために「All I can do」か「The best I can do」で始めると良いでしょう。話す言葉は独り言ではないので、相手を明示してみました。

人には人の英語があります。 私が書くとこういう文は作りませんが 添削だけさせていただきます。 Taking itself is no problem. ↓ Taking itself is no problem to me. 「自分にとって」を入れるとより意味がクリアになります。それが問題になる人（エレベーターが嫌いな人）もいるわけですから。 It is a comfortable, safe and free. ここはaは必要ありません。全部形容詞ですから。 But I am embarrassed at the silence. 前置詞はatではなくbyです。 in narrow space ここは漠然とした空間ではなく狭い一空間でaを入れたほうがより狭さが強調されるような気がします。 I can say the person I don't know in the elevator is that "please, nine floor" at most. ここは初めに文章が来ていてそれが主語の役割を果たしている格好ですね。わからなくはないですがちょっと冗長な感じがしますし 文法的には？？？の感じですね。 で What I can say to a stranger is just "Nine (floor), please." としてみました。 stranger は「自分が知らない人」の場合に使います。 関係代名詞 what を使うとすっきりします。 say は他動詞ですが 後ろに「人」が来るときには to が必要です。 ただおつくりになった文でも充分通じますよ。まあ ＃１の方が仰るようにエレベーターというものは知らない人同士が乗りあうものでこれは日常の光景なので なんで？ とはなるかもしれませんけれど。 ただこれはご質問者様の御意見なので これはこれで良いと思います。 ご参考までに。

The one of dislike in an urban life is taking an elevator. Taking itself is no problem. It is comfortable, safe and free unless someone I don't know is in there. I feel a bit embarrassed. It is somehow strange that I am locked with others in such a narrow space and everbody is in silence. The only words I would say to him or her is "nine floor, please."

こんばんは。 アメリカ在住のものです。 多分合ってると思いますよ。 ただその「知らない人に言えるのは」などという 感覚はあまり外人には無いようで、この文を読んでも「なんで」って 思われるかもしれません。

「信じていたのに裏切られた」と言う人は、「信じる」という行為への考え方が私とは違うのだと思う。そういう人は、自分で責任を持って考えなきゃいけないことを放棄して、誰かを「信じる」ことで安心したいのだろう。 本当の「信じる」ってことはそうではないと思う。誰かを信じるってことは、「この人でダメだったら仕方がない」「裏切られたら信じた自分の責任だ」と覚悟を決めること。 そういう風に、信じたい。 I think my views about a "trusting" act are different from ones of those who say "Even though I trusted, I was betrayed". Those people would give up what to think responsibly and want to feel at ease by trusting someone. I think true "trusting" is not that. Trusting someone is being prepared for "it cannot be helped if this person is hopeless" or "I am responsibile if I am betrayed by someone who I trusted". I want to believe in that way.
