文法の解説はNo1さんと同見解ですが、訳文は正反対です。口語体でざっくり言うならば、「どんなおエライ先生がああだ、こうだと言ったとしても、その解釈が唯一の定説では無いという事を念頭においとくように。」ってな感じだと思いますけど。特に、no one の部分をはっきりと一語ずつ強調して発音すると、このような訳になります。

there was no one that thought he was guilty. これはno oneが先行詞で先行詞節で主語の働きだと思います。 これは二つの文章に分けると there was no one. no one thought he was guilty. になると思います。 no one thought he was guilty. 彼が有罪だと思う人はいない ということはこの先行詞のno oneは「彼を無罪だと思ってる人」を表しているということですよね？ 二つの文章を合わせると 「彼を無罪だと思ってる人がいた」 となるのでしょうか？

辞書を引くとamorphousの意味として、非結晶、不定形、あいまい、形式にとらわれない、など書いてありますが下の例文の意味としてはよくわかりません。Amorphousをどうゆう意味で使っているのか教えてください。 Judging by the reactions of people from different cultures,you can say his work has that great amorphous thing that makes literature live. 村上春樹についてTIMEより。

there was no one that didn't think he was guilty. 先行詞はno oneでno oneは関係詞節で主語の働きをしているので これを二つの文章に分けると there was no one (誰もいなかった) no one didn't think he was guilty. (彼が有罪だと思わない人はいなかった) これを合体させて元に文章にすると no one didn't think he was guilty.で先行詞のno oneは「彼を有罪だと思っている人」を表しているのに there was no one.で「彼を有罪だと思っている人はいなかった」となりませんか？ これはフォレストという文法書の関係詞のところに書かれている例文なのですが そこの訳では there was no one that didn't think he was guilty.は 「彼が有罪だと思わなかった人は誰もいなかった」 となっています。 私の考え方のどこが間違っているのでしょうか？
