The Social Security normal retirement age is currently 66, and it is scheduled to gradually increase to 67 by two months per year starting in 2017. After it reaches 67 in 2022, this option would continue to increase the retirement age by two months per year so that it reaches 68 in 2028 (for people born in 1966 or later). * The normal retirement age does not determine the earliest age at which people are eligible for Social Security benefits, which would still be 62, but rather determines when retirees would receive full benefits without a penalty for early retirement.

  • "and"の訳

Women do smile more than men, but when occupying similar work and social roles, the differences in the rate of smiling disappear, a Yale researcher has found. Also, there are large differences in the degree to which men smile less than women depending on a person’s culture, ethnicity, age, or when people think they are being observed, according to the study funded by the National Science Foundation. “It would be interesting to look at these data because the wide cultural, ethnic and other differences suggest that the sex difference is not something fixed and impossible to change,” said Marianne LaFrance, professor of psychology at Yale. “This is not determined by the fact of being male or female. Each culture gives men and women rules about appropriate behavior for men and women.” (質問) 上記文章の3段落目のandの訳は「~しながら(それでいて)」でよろしいでしょうか? the sex difference is not something fixed and impossible to change の部分。

Professor Tony Cline of Luton University is a psychologist specialising in language development in children. He says we have revised our image of how the brain works. "We used to think it had a limited capacity, like a milk bottle, and that it was impossible to pour two liters of milk into a pint bottle. Now we understand that our brains are capable of making an infinite number of connections; there is no limit to what we can take in." He admits that there might be temporary disadvantages in having a bilingual childhood: "The child sometimes applies the rules of one language to another, and so makes mistakes. But these grammatical 'errors' are trivial and soon outgrown. Any slight delays in language development are more than outweighed by the benefits of bilingualism." These include an enlarged cultural repertoire, the boost to intellectual growth that comes from accessing the literature of different countries, and the obvious practical benefits in an era of globalisation.  And, Cline points out, there is an equally important social advantage. "Experiments have shown that bilingual children are better at taking the perspective of another person, that is, having more than one cultural 'identity' heightens your ability to put yourself into someone else's shoes. Therefore, while the practical usefulness of a language depends on how widely spoken it is internationally, in terms of its broader, more abstract value, all languages are equal." http://m.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2004/mar/03/familyandrelationships.features10?cat=lifeandstyle&type=article

  • social cripple

I recently dated a woman for five months. She is in her late 70s like me. She is twice widowed. Husband No. 2 passed away three years ago. My lady friend and I were together for dinners, outdoor community events and theater performances, and I competed some light landscaping work around her house and some minor household repairs. On my very first date with her, I told her at dinner that I am a social cripple when it comes to dating. I hadn't dated anyone in years. I was also concerned that she might be still grieving for husband No. 2. We had a total of 36 dates together. About halfway through this dating saga, I asked her whether I was doing OK. She replied that I was doing fine. However, soon after that, when I asked her to attend some club picnics and a family birthday party, she declined, citing conflicts. I sensed that something was going wrong. On the 34th date, I asked for a hug. This was our first physical contact. While I hugged her, she held her hands to the sides of her body and looked at the floor. social crippleとdating sagaはどう訳したら良いでしょうか?あと、held her hands to the sides of her bodyはどのような意味でしょうか?

People differ in the color of skin, eyes, hair, in stature, bodily proportions, and in many traits. Some of us have blue eyes, some have prominent and others flat noses, some are tall and others short. We do not suppose that every person with blue eyes belongs to a different race from everybody with brown eyes. It happens, however, that blue eyes are very common in most parts of the United States but rather rare in most parts of Mexico. It is this and similar differences which make it possible to say that the inhabitants of the United States are in general racially distinct from the inhabitants of Mexico. It is this and similar differences which make it possible to say that the inhabitants of the United States are in general racially distinct from the inhabitants of Mexico.
