Which is about Moomingtroll and Sniff following a mysterious path to the sea, pearl-fishing, the discovery of a cave and how the Muscrat avoided catching a cold. 「ムーミントロールとスニフ、海に続く不思議な道を行って、真珠採り、洞穴の発見をする。それに、ジャコウネズミはどのようにして風邪をひかずに済んだかの巻き」こんな意味でしょうか。良い訳があったらお願いします。

(1)criticism that current のthatは文法的に何のthatでしょうか？ that以下に単語の抜けがないので関係代名詞ではないと考えましたが何かわからないです。 (2), following は分詞構文でしょうか？ followingの前には何が省略されているのでしょうか？ 接続詞+主語だと思いますが、それが何かわからないです。 ご指導の程何卒宜しくお願い致します。

The usual method, known as bottom trawling, is to drag a huge net, with 15 tons of weight, across the ocean floor, catching everything in its path. What are the environmental costs? No one really knows ------ and that is part of the problem. According to a recent issue of Natural History, catch limits for deep-sea fishes were set “essentially by guessing, relying on knowledge of shallow-water species. (そして、今年は、スイスが生活の質においてトップになった。スイスに続いては、オーストラリア、ノルウェー、スウェーデン、デンマークだ。） 上記のfollowingの使い方について、よくわかりません。。 通常の語順では、下記のとおりになるかと思います。 Australia, Norway, Sweden and Denmark followed Switzerland. どうして、Following Switzerland were Australia...はどういう文法ルールで書き換えることができるのでしょうか。「倒置」「強調」とかだと思ったりしますが、そのルールがよくわかりません。。。 また、Followed Switzerland were Australia... と-edではなく、 -ingではじまるのでしょうか等、教えて頂けますよう、どうぞよろしくお願いいたしますm(_ _)m

followingの訳し方 The license is valid for the 30-day period following the date of issue. そのライセンスの有効期間は配信日から30日間です。 上記の英文と和訳があるのですが、ここのfollowingの訳し方がいまいちよくわかりません。followingは前置詞で following ≒ after と考えていいのでしょうか。

"following XXX"と"the following XXX"の違いですが、グーグルで 検索してみたところ"the"がつくほうが圧倒的に数が多くヒットします。 しかし、"the"がつく、つかないの差が何なのかわかりません。 自分てきには「以下の」とか「下記の」とか限定しているので、 "the"がつかないと変なような気がするのですが、それが正しい のかどうかもわかりません。 よろしくお願いします。

下記の2つの英文の意味がわかりません。 よろしくお願いします。 As part the stakeholder engagement program associated with GS’s review of its pricing for 2000-2001, GS will provide another update to industry following the completion of the first half of the financial year. このfollowing は、industry にかかるのでしょうか？ それとも、「上半期終了後につづく」という意味で、after a period of the first half of the financial year というような意味で、上半期終了後といういみなのでしょうか？ The principle adopted to reconcile any over or under recovery each year is an adjustment to the subsequent year’s charges. この意味が、よく分かりません。 お分かりの方がいらっしゃいましたら、よろしくお願いします。

訳は大丈夫でしたか。ありがとうございます。でも、following は、どういう意味なのでしょうか。「後に続く」という意味だと思うのですが、なぜfollowingなのでしょうか。道が伸びている感じを出しているのでしょうか。前に続く道を追って、歩いている。そのような感じなのでしょうか。
補足
"follow a path" で小道をたどるという意味がありました。
