この英文解釈がわかりません。
以下はアメリカの奴隷制度についての文章の一部です。訳としては 「奴隷制度はもっとも効率的な安価な労働力源であったので、プランテーションはそれらの新たな地域へと拡大するにつれ、奴隷制度も同様に拡大した。」 のような感じになるのだろうと考えます。 自信が無いのでお聞きしたいのですが、 so did slaveryが主節と考えてよろしいでしょうか？ また倒置をなおせばslavery did(spread) so. でしょうか？ アドバイスをいただけたらと思います。 And as plantations spread to those new areas, so did slavery, sinve it was the most efficient source of inexpensive labor.

asやsinceで始まる部分は節になります。つまり、 as plantations...areasまでが１つの節 since it was...laborまでがもう１つの節になり、 残った so did slavery が主節となるのです。

Only from these figures do they think that they have learned anything about him.(figuresは「数字」の意味で) 否定表現が文頭にくる倒置構文ですから、「これらの数字だけで、彼らは彼について何も知ることはできない。」というふうに否定文の訳し方でいいのでしょうか？

現在読んでいる書籍の英文で解釈が分からない箇所があるので回答願います。 １つ目は、 Southern Irish might well be apprehensive about the sudden swelling of their state by a million people - urban and with a different social outlook and "who by" and large would be bitter about any union with their Irish "cousins". の"who by"が何を指すのかと、文法的解釈が分かりません。 2つ目は、 1That would lead to bloodshed and confusion as the IRA expect, but who in the end would come out "the winner"would be open to question. のcome outの文法的解釈です。come outは自動詞だと思っていたのですが、～を排出する ～を解決するといった他動詞的用法があるのですか？ 宜しくお願い致します。

英文の解釈についていくつか質問があります。 1)Medical breakthroughs have brought about great benefits for humanity as a whole. for humanity as a wholeはbenefits、brought aboutのどちらにかかっているのですか？ 2)They found no place to hide. こういうno place to hideという構造は、no (place to hide)、(no place) to hideのどちらと考えるべきなのでしょうか？ 3)His nephew was brought up to be modest and considerate. このtoは結果の不定詞(= ・・・, and V)で、直訳は「彼の甥は育てられて、謙虚で思いやりのある人になるようになった」と解釈するのですか？ 4)Consensus is yet to be reached regarding this matter. このbe yet to do、have yet to do（まだ～していない）はどういう文法になっているのですか？さっぱりわかりません。

Maybe he's not that bad. Or maybe he's a good enough liar to fool her. 「彼はそんなに悪い人間じゃないかもしれない。」 その後の文章がよく分かりません。 He's a good の後に続くのが、Liar とか fool とか、 単語だけで見ると「良い」とは思えない語が続きます。 「そうでなければ、ものすごくひどい人」というような意味になるのでしょうか？

今年大学受験に失敗し、浪人中の者です。 浪人して河合塾に通うことになり今週から講義が開講したのですが、英文解釈の授業がキツくて自分の現役時代の力の無さを実感してます。 正直、現役時代は英文解釈の勉強はそれほどせず、長文ばっかやってました。 現役時代の偏差値はだいたい国語65、英語60、世界史70くらいでした。 一応クラス分けでは早慶クラスの中でも上の方のクラスに入り、Tテキストというものを使ってます。 しかし予習してる時から全然構造がつかめず和訳ができませんでした。 復習を何回もみっちりとする予定ですが、Tテキストを繰り返すだけで英文解釈の力は上がるのでしょうか？ Tテキスト以外にも自分でやさしめの参考書を買って並行しながら勉強しようか迷ってます。 この１年で英語を早慶でも平均以上点をとれるようにしたいです。 講師の先生方は夏までは基礎シリーズのテキストを繰り返すだけでいい。 あんまり他のものには手を出すなと言ってました。 自分も他教科含めテキスト中心でやっていこうと思ってます。 河合塾のテキストはどう思ってますか？ 経験者の方がいたらアドバイスをお願いしたいです。
