Flying by the seat of their pantsとはどういう意味でしょうか？
あるインタビューを聞いていたら、your friends are flying by the seat of their pants still...と出てきました。どういう意味がご存知の方、いらっしゃいますか？

the seat of one's pantsは「ズボンのおしりの部分」という意味です。fly by the seat of one's pantsというのは，「パイロットが計器などに頼らず，ズボンのおしりの部分（パイロットと飛行機の最大の接触部分）で感じるままに操縦する」から，「あらかじめ計画したり，他の意見を参考にしたりするのでなく，自分の直観で行動していく」という意味になります。Great leaders should never lead by the seat of their pants.のような言い方もするようですが，慣用的な言い回しとしてはflyを用います。しかし，「飛行機を操縦する」ことに限らず，さまざまな行為について表現することができ，「飛ぶ」という意味になるわけではありません。したがって，ハイフンでつなぐというようなことをしなくても，「あなたの友人たちは，自分の直観だけに頼って行動している」という意味になります。
