しているかわかりません。

(1)適切なものを選ぶ問題です。なぜ、場所を表すareaがあるのに、whichなのでしょうか？ inがあるから、関係副詞のwhereは使えないということでしょうか。

(2)次の2文を関係代名詞を用いて書き換える問題です。
My husband has sent us a Chiristmas present. He is staying in New York now.
模範解答では、非制限用法を用いて書き換えてありますが、先行詞は固有名詞ではないし、制限用法で書き換えても文脈はおかしくなりません。
なぜ、制限用法ではいけないのでしょうk。
