有難うございます。随分私も穿った見方をしてしまいましたが、素直にそう考えればよいのですね。 Groups of different races and religions pay attention to this event to the (a certain/ some/ a large )extent is extraordinary. とすると、 様々な人種や宗教のグループの人々このイベントに注目している程度（の大きさ）は驚くべきことである。 ということですね。 関係代名詞は、後ろにVがあるときは先行詞＋which（主格）、後ろにSVがありOがないときは先行詞+which(目的格）という単純な考えしかなかったので、S(様々な人種や宗教のグループの人々）V(注目する）O（このイベントに）とSVOがあるのになぜ？と考えてしまいました。関係代名詞についてのこの理解は単純すぎるのでしょうか。できましたら関係代名詞の説明をもう少し補足していただければ幸いです。
