１。 彼女は間違いを冒した。（とは言え）ハッキリ言って大惨事と言うほどでは無い。もし我々の一人が下品なことばをつい漏らした、あるいは保護者の綽名を面と向かって言ったとしても、大体同じようなことだったろう。 ２。"...had one of us slip a rude word"の意味がわからないので、教えてほしいですm(__)m 下記（１）の４、接続詞 i f が省略されていて倒置が行なわれた例です。 http://www.eibunpou.net/10/chapter25/25_5.html ...had one of us slip a rude word" は if one of us had slip a rude word" と同じです。 ですから思わず "shit" と言ったり、（保護者の前で）あだなの「デブハゲ」とポロリと口から出ちゃった、ようなことだと思います。
