文中の英語で「カッコ」をどう読むか
以下のサイトに、「カッコ」の読み方が書いてありました。 http://www.toishi.info/email/bracket.html [ は open brakets ( は open parentheses, open brackets と読むそうですが、では実際にネイティブが英文を呼んでいるとき、例えば文中に 2013 [ 21st century ]とあった場合、[ を open brakets とよみ、 My father ( his name is John） とあれば、 （を open parentheses と読むのでしょうか？ 回答お待ちしています。

あんまり英文で()や[]を見ないですね。日本が使い過ぎなのかも知れません。通常はカンマで囲って、文の中の特定の単語を補足するように思います。 と思って調べるとこんなのありました。 http://www.scribendi.com/advice/how_to_use_brackets_properly.en.html どう読むかですが、上のURLでも読み方は書いてありますが、文章を読み上げるとしたらカンマをいちいち読まないのと同じように読まないと思います。あるいは、読み方がちゃんと決まっているほど一般的じゃない。 あえて読むとすると、口述筆記か目が不自由な人に丁寧に読んで聴かせるようなケースじゃないですかね。

私の知っている限りでは、( ) は 「, 」 と同じで発音せず、 My father , his name is John, is 50 years old. みたいに My father で切り、息継ぎしたあと、 his name is John で又、息継ぎして is 50 years old. と言うように思います。 他の言い方もあるかも知れませんが・・・
