Among murders, other violent crimes include street fighting and armed robberies. 多分、極道さんも、回答No.1&2の様な事は考えたんでしょ。 でも、何か、今一だし、「裏が有るな」と..... 考えました.... ひょっとしてヒントは " extra " とゆう語に有るかと。 唯単に、「....もう一冊」なら、another one とかanother Bible 等々でイイかなと。 それを敢えて"extra"としたのは..... 通常、巡礼時に持参する場合、普及版等の手垢に塗(まみ)れたモノじゃないかな? 今や、"悪党"が闊歩するベネズエラでは、強盗、引っ手繰りは日常茶飯の当たり前。 「命あっての物種」多分彼(か)の地にもこんな諺が有るのかなと... 自分はケガしても、ヒトにはケガさせないだけイイじゃないか.....と 金品を要求されて、グズグズしてるよりスマートに、即カネに為る豪華な"extra" Bibleを手渡した方が賢い....と。 extra【極上の、格別の】】...といった意味で素晴らしい装丁のBibleが考えらえます。 だから、英文中の言外には、普及版と同時に豪華版も購入しておき、面倒でも再巡礼時には携えておけば、強(あなが)ちマズイ考えではないのかも.......と。 最後に、一つ参考になりそうなベネズエラ近況です。 http://jp.vice.com/watch/13130 下の方＊、「解放されたイエス・キリストに替わって、ベネズエラっ子の信仰心を満たすのは、【稀代の悪党たち】。」とあります。

元の文章らしきものを見ましたが、挙げていらっしゃる文章はカラカス大聖堂について紹介する文章の一部なので、 どうしてもカラカス大聖堂に巡礼に行きたいならば、大聖堂という神聖な場所であっても被害に遭うから、盗まれるのは当然のこととして予備の聖書を携行しましょう、 というジョークじゃないでしょうか。 巡礼者は高価なものは持参しないので強盗被害に遭わないと思うでしょうが、唯一の（？）財産・携行品である聖書ですら奪われますよ、みたいなジョークかなと。

多分外れでしょうが、バイブルは悪から身を守ると言う迷信があり、それを踏まえて、この地域は悪が大きいから、バイブルも１冊じゃ足りない、２冊は要るよ、見たいなことじゃないでしょうか。
