findの受け身について
Find O Cという文はO is/are found Cには書き換えられないのでしょうか？ The main cause of this disease has already been found derived from daily habits such as too much drinking coffee, eating, and smoking. という文をライティングで書いたのですが、ネイティブに found to be derived from~と直されました。 think O Ｃ は Ｏ is /are though C のように受け身で表せるので、findの場合も大丈夫だと思っていたのですが、、 宜しくお願いします。

新聞の表題です。 Missing baby is found asleep in closet by police. 能動体に直せば ↓ Police find missing baby asleep in closet. で正しいと思います。さて、本題に戻すと ＞The main casue of this disease has already been found derived from daily habits. 下記が貴方の言う、上記文の能動態と仮定をすれば、 Medical doctors has already found the main cause of this disease derived from daily habits. 上記の構文を分かりやすするために少しイタズラをします。 Medical doctors found the main cause of this disease. SVO Medical doctors found something bad. SVOC 上記にderived rom daily habits を付け加えると Medical doctors found something bad to be derived from daily habits. で多分良いと思います。 次のいたずらは Medical doctors found a bad thing derived from daily habits. ↓ A bad thing is found derived from daily habits by medical doctors. find O C 、find O (to be) C には違いありません。 ここは受身だから、to be があって普通。 そもそも SVC などで、S ＝ C って、 He is tall. のような形容詞でも＝じゃない。 分詞 I was surprised. だって、SVC とする人が多い。 でも＝じゃない。 C は名詞、さらに the など限定詞つきなら＝だけど、 他の単語ならそうでもない。 主語（SVOC なら目的語）の状態、様子などを表すのが補語であって、 ＝と書くのは便宜的なもの。 だから、能動なら find the main cause of this disease derived ～として問題ないです。 こういう過去分詞の場合にも SVOC とすること自体後付けであって、 可能なことには違いありません。 能動でも O が長いので to be があった方がいいとは思います。 とにかく、この to be の説明は think O (to be) C などとしか説明できません。 ただ、受動態は to be が発生するのです。 be said to 原形（これは be とは限りません）というおなじみの表現がありますが、 能動 say O to 原形はないのです。 find O dirived という表現自体は何の問題もありません。

to be の有無を私なりに考えてみますと、 is found to be derived と is found derived を比べますと圧倒的に前者が使われます。 is found to be done と is found done を比べますと圧倒的に前者が使われます。 is found to be good/excellent と is found good/excellent を比べますと圧倒的に前者が使われます。 is found to be a more efficient... と is found a more efficient... を比べますと主に前者が使われます。（上の３例ほど圧倒的ではありませんが...） このように to be が必要な場合が多いのです。この理由を考えてみますと to be の後が is found to be derived from the equation is found to be done by people who... is found to be good for beating bacteria / excellent in the mechanical characteristics のように長い「句」を形成する場合が多い（想定される）ということです。 ところが単純な表現（例： He was found dead/killed.）の場合に to be を入れることは行われません。むしろ He was dead. と言うべき所に found が割り込んで来たというぐらいの感覚の場合です。本来 to be があるべき所にも見えるが簡便のために省くという作業が無意識に頭の中で行われる例ですね。is found to be interesting ぐらいになると to be ありが優勢ということで、可／不可の境目は native の感覚でやや紛らわしいのです。

find に限らず、think O (to be) C、consider O (to be) C の場合、 受身の場合、be thought/considered/found to be C のように、to be があった方が普通です。 能動の場合はかっこつきのようにいずれも可。 特に C が過去分詞の場合、found 過去分詞と過去分詞が続くので避けるべきです。 実際、see O 分詞という知覚動詞の用法で、過去分詞の場合、 be seen 過去分詞は誤りとされています。 知覚動詞の場合には to be の選択の余地がないので、即誤りとなるのです。 find にしても、「気づく、わかる」でなく、find O C で 「O が～だということを見つける」の場合には to be は（能動の段階で）使えません。 ここでは「気づく」の意味なので to be が使え、 find (to be) 過去分詞の場合、be found と受身になれば be found to be 過去分詞とする必要があります。

Actually,I noticed many peculiar things about American's eating habits.I mentioned only their habit of rushing through a meal, but there are other peculiar practices.For example, they eat anywhere.I've seen people eating in their cars while they are driving. On campus, I see students and teachers walking while drinking coffee or eating a sandwich.I think these habits are all related to time.They don't want to 'waste' time eating.They have to accomplish something else while they eat,such as walking somewhere, or driving, or studying,or reading the newspaper,or watching TV.

Moreover evidence about the risks of passive smoking is clear, I’ve hard that second-hand smoking in the workplace causes many deaths each year. I have a child so I worried when I go with my son to stores or restaurant, if there is a person who is smoking around us. The second reason is that a ban would encourage more smokers to quit. My husband smokes every day, but I want him to quit smoking for my son, me and himself. I think ,however , It’s difficult for him to quit… The third, the health-promotion law in Japan aims to prevent passive smoking in public places. Now, many eating places have smoking or non-smoking seats, but I think for preventing passive smoking, smoking places should be covered tightly. More aggressive methods are required.

英字新聞を見てよくわからないところがあったので質問します。 Americans' sedentary lifestyle and poor eating habits are poised to overtake cigarette smoking as the nation's leading cause of preventable deaths. の「as the nation's leading」がどこにかかって、どういう意味なのかわかりません。 そこを抜かすと、「体を動かすことが少ない米国人のライフスタイルと劣悪な食習慣が防ぎえた死の原因において、喫煙を追い越しトップになろうとしている。」と訳して考えています。なくても通じるのですが、納得がいきません。解説のほうよろしくお願いします。 難しい単語は調べればわかりますが、簡単な単語の連語がわからないと辞書で調べてもなかなか理解することができません。コツなどありましたら教えください。
