- 洋書で見つけた英文の意味が分からず困っています。
- 「not～more・・・」の表現について教えてください。

こんにちは。 洋書を読んでいたところ、下記のような英文があり、意味が分からず困り果てております。 Of course it's not merely a visit , it's more a command performance since Mama always does what her older sister the Archduchess says. 教えていただきたいのですが、「not～more・・・」で一つの意味を成し、「～ではなく・・・だ」と言う意味となるのでしょうか？ 辞典を見ましたが判別せず、困っております。 どなたか、お力を貸してはいただけないでしょうか？ 宜しくお願い致します。

教えていただきたいのですが、「not～more・・・」で一つの意味を成し、「～ではなく・・・だ」と言う意味となるのでしょうか？ １。 「花子は美人ではない」 Hanako is not beautiful ２。 「どちらかといえば地味な女だ」 She is more a Plain Jane. ３。 １＋２＝「花子は美人ではなく、どちらかといえば地味な女だ」 Hanako is not beautiful, she is more a Plain Jane. と英語ではくっついているだけで、日本語では「～ではなく．．．だ」になります。

not merely A で「ただ A だけでなく」 普通なら、but (also) B と続けて「B でもある」ですが、 more B than A で「A というよりむしろ B」の more B が続いています。 than A に当たるのが、前に書かれている not merely ～の部分です。 単なる訪問というのではなく、（訪問以上の）御前演奏？だ、 ママはいつも姉の大公妃の言うことをするから。

アメリカのネットショップで小物を購入予定です。発送の件でメールが来たんですがちょっと意味がわかりません。すっみませんが意味を教えて下さい。お願いします。 I have just checked Fedex again and say if you were to order more stock and it came to AAA boxes it would cost you 100ドル to post those AAA cartons. I know it's a bit high but It's not too bad. What do you think? If you have your own courier feel free to book them to pick up the boxes.
