文法的には you couldn't see me. でも間違いはありませんが couldn't have seen とすることで文のニュアンスが変わってきます。 could have 過去分詞 → できたであろう と解釈します。 you couldn't see me. あなたは私を見ることはできなかった。（実際に起きた出来事） you couldn't have seen me. あなたは私を見ることはなかったはずだ。（起きる可能性があったけど実際には起きなかった出来事） この文章の場合、「マイケルのパーティーには行かなかったんだから」といっているので 「私のことを見るはずがないわ。」（No, you couldn't have seen me.）の方が ぴったりなのです。 ご参考までにcould have 過去分詞 で検索するといろいろでてきます。

Mike is a good friend of Elli's, but he hasn't visited her in the hospital. に続けます。He can't know she's in the hospital. は間違いで 正解は He mustn't know she's in the hospital. なんだそうです。 初めの設定文は 事実だとすると 事実をあげて「～んなハズはない。」を言うのなら、can't じゃないのかな？ と思うので、 事実が無い （習慣やら常識的な事やら）が設定文にくると must notを選ぶ当方です。 これ 何故間違いなのでしょうか？ 宜しくお願いいたします。

I couldn't make myself understood についていくつか質問させてください。 1. I couldn't make myself understood in Englishで「私の英語は通じなかった」と習いましたが、"I couldn't make myself understood"をインターネットで検索をかけてみると日本と韓国のサイトが多く、あまり英語圏の方のサイトがでてきません。もっと他の言い方があるのですか？それとも単に英語圏の人は言葉で困ると言う事がないだけなのでしょうか？ 2.
