このofは同格ですか？

同格ofは一般に抽象的な名詞の内容を補足説明するものでA(抽象的名詞や集合名詞) of B(名詞、動名詞句) という形で構成され「BというA」と訳すことがほとんどです。 fact / hope / news / information / idea / knowledge + of + his death / her recovery (事実、希望、ニュース、情報、考え、知識etc) + (－の、－という) + (彼の死、彼女の回復etc)などがその例です。 minority-minoritiesは普通名詞ですね。ですから問題のofは同格のofではないと思います。 ofは基本的には「－の」でいいのですがA of Bという使い方ではBがAの主語になるような関係や所有格関係 などいろいろある中で僕はこのofは「－起源の、－に由来する」というニュアンスを持っていると思います。 He is independent of his parents. (彼は両親から独立している) He deprived/robbed the old woman of her bag. (彼はその老女からバッグを奪った) などの例文のofはよく「分離のof」と呼ばれ「－から離れる、引き離す」「－から由来する、分岐、分派した」 という日本語がそれに当てられます。 [ that of hispanic / latin origin](ヒスパニック系、ラテン系民族起源からの由来した、分岐したそれ)とも言えるか と思いますが、それでもそんな感覚を踏まえながらでofは「－の」 でいいと思います。日本語の方も懐が広いですから。 ちなみに [ A fast growing minority in the US is that OF Hispanic Americans. ]のthat(代名詞)は minority(少数民族) の重複使用を避けるための指示代名詞「それ」でよく英文では出てくる用法です。 [ Ears of a rabbit are longer than those of a horse. ]のように複数バージョンのthose「それら」 というのも見たことがあるのではないでしょうか。 以上のような意見でした。参考になればうれしいです。

同格のofと接続詞thatの不和について 接続詞のthatが前置詞と結びつくのはin thatのみであると教わりました。 ということは、 the fact of S Vという形はとれないということになるのでしょうか？ the fact of 名詞で、もしS Vを同格として繋ぎたいならば、the fact that S Vにしろということでしょうか？ the fact of (that省略）S Vは不可能なのでしょうか？非常に気になっております。 できればお詳しい方、お教えください。
