「ミッション・ステートメント」という言葉は、そのまま日本でもよく使われるようになりましたが、会社や個人の「使命を明文化したもの」という意味です。従って、No.2さんも書かれているように、この文章は違和感があります。私も "statement" は不要だと思います。"The company mission statement is" で始めるとしたら「私達は～します」という意味の文章がつながるべきだと思います。

The company mission statement is to create products that make life better: mission statement 直訳で「使命」+「声明」、、、、、、、、このままでは日本語になりませんので、、、、、、、、、、 無理矢理に日本語にすれば、 「会社の指針メッセージ」 「会社の基本使命文書」 ですが、なんだか変ですよね、「statement」→(声明、発表、、等〉が「to create products that make life better」するものもね? 本来なら、 The company mission [statement] is to create products that make life better: [statement]は不要ですよね、、、、 The company mission is to create products that make life better: これで完全に文意は通ります。
