look for の意味
英語のテキストの文です。 Louis kept the bad-guy look for a few more seconds before he burst out laughing. (意訳） ルイは、あと数秒、悪役の顔をしていましたが、突然笑い出しました。 look for は「探す」とか「期待する」という意味のハズですが、意訳 だと「表情をする」といった意味のように思えます。look forにこういった意味があるのでしょうか？

ここでの for は時間の幅を示す前置詞で、 for a few seconds で、２～３秒の間 の意味です。 直前の look は名詞で（the という定冠詞がついているから）、 the look なら、その顔つき です。 the bad-guy look なら、悪役の顔つき ですね。 keep Ａ for Ｂ で、ＡをＢの時間続ける・維持する などの意味になります。 これでわかりますか？

look for ではありません。 文の構造はkeptが動詞です。「～を保ち続ける」 lookは「外観、顔つき」という名詞です。bad guyの顔つきを保っていた。です。 forはa few more secondsにかかり～数秒間の「間」になります。
