和訳お願いします・・
あるネイティブとメールのやり取りをしているのですが、英語の質問をしたところ以下のような文章が返ってきました。大まかな訳は『この文章での“it”は“to take a taxi”以外の何かを指しています』でいいでしょうか？ つまり“it”は“to take a taxi” でないということでしょうか？ In this sentence or the context, there is nothing else 'it' can refer to other than 'to take a taxi'.

Gです。 こんにちは。 多分、it is better to take a taxi.というような表現があり、それに対しitは何を意味するか、と言う質問に対し、In this sentence or the contextこの文章や内容では、 there is nothing elseほかにない、 'it' can refer to itが参照できるのは other than 'to take a taxi'.to take a taxi以外には、と言う事になり、「この文章や内容・情況においては、itはtake a taxi以外を指せるものはない」と言っているわけです。 I used it to take a taxi.と言う文章だとしたら、この説明はもちろん間違っていますが、この使い方では（教えた文章ですね）、と条件付けて、itはto take a taxiを指していないんだけど、It is cheap to take a taxi in Chinaとなれば、その文章や内容からto take a taxiがitで代用したのです、とその人は言いたいわけです。 よって、その使い方では、と条件付けて、itはto take a taxiを意味する以外はない、と言っているわけです。 これでいかがでしょうか。 分かりにくい点がありましたら、補足質問してください。

none other than... が（...に他ならない）という意味なので、it はto take a taxi以外では有り得ない、つまりit＝to take a taxi でしょう。

こんにちは。 “it”は“to take a taxi”を示しているんだと言っているのでは？ 「it は to take a taxi 以外の何者でもない」と読めます。 there is nothing else＝他にはない other than 'to take a taxi'. "to take a taxi"以外 ＝"to take a taxi"以外に、itが示しているものは何もない という訳になると思います。
