inの使い方について
inの使い方についてわからない点があったため、 質問させていただきます。 What's the use in you denying? あなたが否定して何になるの？ という文において、なぜこの位置にinを置く必要があるのでしょうか。 「in you(your) denying」のかたまりで考えると、 「あなたが否定している間に」か「あなたが否定しているときに」という意味になり、 うまく訳することができません。 inではなくofなら、the use of～で～の効能という意味になることはわかるのですが。 この点を教えていただけますでしょうか。

「～に使う」「～の役にたつ」と言うのは use in が「かたまり」で、例は下記で1759例でます。 http://eow.alc.co.jp/search?q=use+in&pg=1 What's the use in telling him? あいつにいくら言っても無駄だってば など年中使います。
