into の意味は(1)「(外から)中へ」のほか (2)「(変化の結果)へ・に」 で、ここでは(2)です。 ・おたまじゃくし grows into かえる ・assemble 部品 into 完成品 後にでている put ～ together が単に部品の寄せ集めと対比させて assemble は、機能を持ったものに組み上げる意味で使ってます。 「部品を完成品に組み上げること」 部品が shots でも完成品が coherent sequence です。

assembling shots into a coherent sequence. assembling＝動名詞で名詞ではあるが動詞のように文中で扱われる。 assembling/assemble the shots into a coherent sequence と言った方が我々には分かりやすいのかも。 この場合shotとはフイルムの一コマになるはず。映画でもテレビでも同じですが昔のフィルムは添付のように同じようなコマが少しづつ変わる姿をズラして放映することで実際に動いているように見える。漫画映画も同じですよね。漫画のフイルムとの違いは映画フイルムは長いフイルムを時間以内に収まるように不必要と思うコマは最初にハサミで切っちゃうんです（rough cut)そしてテープで繋ぎ合わせる。最後に（final cut＝視聴者が見る画像)までに仕上げる。 このrough cutからfinal cutまでの工程をassemble the shots（コマを組み立てる）と言っているはずです。
