「put A into practice」を自動詞で？＠中大経済2009
A: How did you find the discussion in your group? B: Frankly, a bit disappointing. Most of the opinions presented were far from being original of innovative. A: But don't you think that for that reason they might be a lot easier to put into practice? B: Well, that's a positive way of looking at it, isn't it? Aの2回目の発言で「put into practice」を目的語なしで使用しています。しらべてもこのイディオムには必ず目的語が付いており、出題ミスではとさえ疑ってしまいます。みなさんのご意見を伺いたく質問させていただきました。自動詞の用法が存在するのならソースを提示していただけると助かります。または口語体なのでくずしているという解釈もアリでしょうか？

「easy」という形容詞は後ろに不定詞を伴って「～するには簡単だ」という意味を表すことがあります。 (1) Spanish is easy to learn. この場合、「スペイン語」は「学ばれる」という関係なのですが、「to be learned」と受動態にはしません。 「easy」の前に意味上の主語を補うと「～が（スペイン語を）学ぶ」という関係が見えてきます。 (2) Spanish is easy (for biginners) to learn. 仮主語を用いてもほぼ同じ意味を表すことができます。 (3) It is easy (for beginners) to learn Spanish. お尋ねの英文に当てはめてみます。 (4) They might be easier to put into practice. (5) They might be easier (for you) to put into practice. (6) It might be easier (for you) to put them into practice. なお、「they/them」が指しているのが「opinions」ですね。 「looking at it」の「it」は、下記の流れから「discussion」だと考えられます。 Ｂ：議論はがっかりするものだったよ。全く独創性がなかった。 Ａ：かえって実行に移しやすい（から良いだろう）。 Ｂ：ふ～ん、君は（議論を）肯定的に見ているね。 ご参考になれば・・・。

回答どうもありがとうございます！ 目的語だったtheyが受身になって前に出たということも最初考えましたが、それなら不定詞句が「to be put into practice?」と受身になっているはずではないですか？ やはりtheyは「(people) in your group」だと思いますが・・ ちなみに自分は「looking at it」のitは「(That) most of the opinions presented were far from being original of innovative」を指していると思います。

I was just thinking the same thing. thinkが直接目的語をとっているのはなぜでしょうか？ ・thinkは自動詞として使い「～について考える」とする場合は、aboutやofが必要なのでは？ ・他動詞として使う場合はthat節が基本では？

よく問題で、間違っている個所を示せ、正しいほうを選べ、などあるのですが考え方がわかりません。 例えば、 This animal resembles a rat. このresembleは他動詞だということはわかります。 他動詞は目的語を必要とし、動詞の後ろにすぐ名詞がきているので・・・。 しかし、以下の分の間違いを示せ、という問題だと考え方がわかりません。 A lot of students attended to this class. ほかにも、正しいほうを選べなどで、 She entered into his room. She entered his room. これらも、どちらが正しいかわかりません。 これはもうattend（出席する）は他動詞、enterは他動詞・・・などと地道に覚えていくしかないのでしょうか？ 長くなりましたが、わかるかたよろしくお願いします。

回答どうもありがとうございます！ 一年前もお世話になりました。 easyの特性だったのですか。確かにeasyがそのように振舞うことを知っています。大学の入試問題にミスなど疑うべきではなかったです。一年前の予備校のケースとはわけが違いますね。 大変参考になりました。
