英単語の使い方の違い

質問

英作文を勉強しているのですが、”今日の科学の進歩は人間が言葉を創造した結果である”
を訳すときに解答ではprogressだけを使っていました。advanceｓではいけないのでしょうか？
辞書で調べてもあまりはっきりしなかったので、advance、progress、developmentの違い
をわかりやすく教えてくださると嬉しいです。お願いします。
ちなみに模範解答は
Today's scientific progress is the result of the creation of human language.
でした。

scientific progress と scientific advances, scientific development は同等・同義語と考えて良いと思います。scientific advancement という言い方もあります。

もととなる単語のニュアンスは異なります。progress は進歩という意味の名詞です。advance は自ら押し進めるニュアンスの動詞です。develop は成長するという意味の動詞です。

そのニュアンスをひどく引きずっているかとなるとそれほどではないと思いますが、科学者・技術者自身が言う時には当事者としての自分の努力も含めて advance を使いたいことも多いと思います。

私も、progress、advancement（advancesではない）でもdevelopment、どれでもそん色ないと思ったので、辞書で調べてみました。そうしたらやはり、progressが最も適切なようです。
以下、"Progress" の 2. を読んでみて下さい。
