getting a headline and getting it first となっている以上、 「ヘッドラインを得ること、および、ヘッドラインを first 得ること」 に興味がある と訳すことになります。 後は first の意味です。 日本語で「最初に」がさまざまな意味合いで用いられるように、 英語でもいくつかの可能性があります。 「（誰よりも）真っ先に」 「（何よりも）まず」 後は前後の文脈です。 24時間ニュースが流れている中で、「誰よりも早く」という可能性もありますが、 24時間寝ずにニュースを監視しているなどということが人々一般にあるとは思えません。 そうすると、24時間ニュースが流れる中で、詳細はともかく、見出し的な大枠だけでも知りたい、 ととるのが自然だと思います。

詳しい回答ありがとうございます！ ふむ。 この言葉を言った人は有名人なので、常に何かを探られてはいるんですよね。 そうなるとどうなりますかね？私はどちらにも意味がとれるかなと思い、今ちょっと悩み中です。 「誰よりも早く」、「大枠だけでも」というのは、その人について知りたがる第三者にとってはどちらも有りですよね。 でも、分かりやすい説明ありがとうございました！

Even if it is difficult, it is necessary to communicate with people speaking foreign languages in business, politics, science and many other activities. （たとえそれが難しくても、ビジネスや政治、化学、そして他の多くの活動において、外国語を話す人々と意思の疎通をすることが必要です。） この文のspeakingという語がなぜ進行形になってるのか、わかりません。進行形なら訳は「外国語を話している（最中の）人々と」になるはず。 というのは、私の知識では、peopleとspeakingの間にwho are を入れればpeople who are speakingという風に「人々」と「話す」が主語と述語の関係になるから・・・という考えなのですが、これ間違っていますか？ ご指摘、もしくはアドバイスお願い致します。
