えーと、「as well 《話》…のほうがよい」が形容詞のように使えるので、justをつければ、「まさに～したほうが良かった」といった感じでしょうね。 itが仮主語でthat以下が本当の主語ということでしょう。 「本当のところまず間違いなく、1週間まるまる滞在しようとしなかったほうが良かったのだろうね」 くらいなところでしょうか。

こんにちわ。 シャーロックホームズの作品を授業の教材にしている大学生です。 シャーロックホームズのまだらの紐での、 "I thought it as well" ,said Homes, as we climbed the stile, "that this fellow should think we had come here as archtects, or on some definite business . のところで注釈が、I thought it as well...that this fellow ～ が、「今の駆者が～のほうがよかろうと思った。」 と書いてあって itはthat節をうける。 as well ＝ advisableとなっていて、 on some definite business が「目的のはっきりした仕事で」 となっていますがいまいち注釈の意味、文の意味がわかりません。 あと、 Won't it ring ？ で「（鈴が）ならないのか」となっていますが、will の意味がわかりません。 なぜwill を使うのかがわかりません。 片方だけでもいいのでわかる方がいらしたら例文等も挙げておしえてください。 よろしくおねがいします。

以下英文で It is very important that 以降の部分の文法が理解できません。 "It is very important that until people have decision-making capability while they are growing up that we protect them but I think the whole idea that we can protect adults from themselves is hugely problematic." that節の中で、 until people have decision-making capability while they are growing up that we protect them が一塊でuntil ~ の後に文章がないように見えるのですが、 until ~ だけをthat節の中に書けるものなんでしょうか？

英語の副詞の書き換えについてです。 例 Probably he did not know the fact. →It was probable that he did not know the fact. Cleary he did not express his own opinion. →It was clear that he did not express his own opinion. that節で、前の文を書き換えることができるというものですが・・・ He apparently knew the town well. →It appeared that he knew the town well. になるらしいのですが、この時にIt was と何故しないかを初歩的な質問かもしれませんが教えてください。 自分なりに推理してみたのですが、be ＋ 過去分詞となって受動的な意味合いとなってしまうからなのでしょうか？ それとは別に文法自体に前の2つの例と意味合いが違うからなのでしょうか？ はたまた、このapparentlyという単語にはそうしてはいけない何かがあるのでしょうか？ どうぞお願いします。

こんにちは。いつもお世話になっています。 「～もまた・・・だ。」という表現で「also, too, as well」は同じ意味合いですか？表現の内容によっては使い分けるのでしょうか？ また、常に「tooとas well」は文末で用い、「also」は主語のあとに置くものなんでしょうか？ 例１）彼もまたそう思っていた。（=彼もまた（僕と同じように）そう思っていた。） →(1)He was thinking it too. ありがとうございます。 as wellにそのような意味があったのですね。 電子辞書のジーニアス英和辞典には (1)なおその上 (2)同じくらい上手に の2つの意味しか載っていませんでした。 ジーニアスに対する信頼が少し薄れました。 それとも探し方が悪かったのでしょうか…？
