英語やり直し組みです "I can understand why they would not want somebody running a country who is a state-sponsor of terror down there at the site," (1)who以下はsomebodyについて、でしょうか？またwho以下はどういう訳になるのでしょうか？ 「その場所で恐怖の下部のスポンサー？」よくわかりません。。。 (2)want (somebody)runningと書いてありますがwantはingが後ろに来ない、と見た記憶があったのですが私の記憶違いなのでしょうか？ お願いします。

whoは人に使う関係代名詞ですから、ここではsomebody が先行詞でしょうね。 who以下の訳は「あちらの現地で国家的テロ支援者であるsomebody」というような感じかと思います。 downはterror ではなくthereの方とペアで、down thereとat the site は同格、つまり言い換えと考えていいと思います。 (2) は私の辞書にはwant+目的語+～ing の形は出ていました。 例文：I don't want you visiting her so often. そんなにしょっちゅう彼女に会いに行ってもらいたくない。

こんにちは。 (1)について答えますね。 まず、この文は、who以下はsomebodyにかかっていますね。 それで、この文は、どんな訳になるかというと、“a state-sponsor of terror”は、「恐怖の政治家」という意味になって（state-sponsor=statespersonかな）、“down”は、「下部の」ではなくて、「抑圧して」なのかな。 ということは、“ is a state-sponsor of terror down there at the site”は、「その場所で抑圧する恐怖の政治家」って意味になるのかな？ 答えのヒントになれば、うれしいです。

日本語に興味がある相手に、ある日本語の言葉についてメールの中で説明したところ、以下のような返事が来ました。 Thanks for the info. It means a lot for someone who wants to understand Japanese language more. これは、「日本語をもっと知りたい人にはとてもためになるよ」という感じだと思いますが、その「someone who～」には自分も含めて「私のように日本語をもっと知りたい人には…」と考えていいのでしょうか？ 英語では自分のことも（含めて）someoneと表現することがありますか？ 単に「It means a lot for me」なら自分のことを言ってるんだなとわかりやすいのですが。 この文をどのように解釈されるかお聞かせください。
