「～に対して評価すると」で良いでしょう． ビジネスではよく使う表現です．例えば，企業では年間や四半期の目標（販売量，生産量，など）を年初に立てます．一定の評価時期に，実績を評価することになります．その結果で，上方修正や下方修正をしたりすることもあります． この例での performance は，カタカナでパフォーマンスと言っても良いし，実績と言ってもよいです．こうした比較は，予実（予定/実績）と言ったりもします． あるものとあるものとの単純な比較ではありません．ネイティブでもビジネスを知らない人は無理でしょう．

全文をいただけるとよりよく説明できると思うのですが・・・。 基本的には、Measured Againstは、数値的『比較』の意味を表します。 この場合、 【the bank's successful performance over time】と 【an annnounced clear target】を比較して という事になりますね。 ちなみにネイティブの友人とチェックしたので情報は確かです。

"much against the expectation of its author, was an immediate success, being chosen by the Book-of-the- Month Club" という文章はbeing chosen by the Book-of-the- Month Club が主語でwas an immediate success,が動詞と補語 an immediate success = being chosen by ~. と自分なりに解釈しました。 そして"much against the expectation of its author は副詞節なのかなあと思ったのですがどうでしょうか？ それともbeing chosen～ は分詞構文で an immediate success（主語） を修飾しているのでしょうか そしてmuch against the expectation of its author, は補語の関係になるのか。。。とも思っています。 しかし私の考えでは副詞句が補語になるのは不自然な気がしてしまいます。 説明をくれたらとても助かります！ そして読んでいただきありがとうございます！

誤文訂正問題で Lloyd's office, built in 1986, it was one of the first successful buildings in London in the style of technological modernism. という文がありました。 it was one→was oneが答えなのですが 考え方はbuilt in 1986が挿入（分詞構文）で、Lloyds officeの述語動詞が必要で、それがwasということなのでしょうか？ 関係詞の単元に出ていた問題なのですが、関係詞の文法事項がどう関わっているのかが分かりません・・・ 関係代名詞のasを使ってas was built in 1986にするのかなと一瞬思ったのですが、分詞構文であればその必要は特に無いですよね・・・
